Louis really wanted to see his friends.
He thought that after talking with the king he would be able to leave the dungeon. Boy was he wrong. Now, he finally had to really start the dungeon.
He found himself in a small room, where the different prizes of clearing the dungeon were clearly displayed. He wondered why his friends were not with him, but he thought that maybe they were in other rooms.
That was when he saw the sword.
It was in the middle of the room, which made it quite hard to miss. What was weird, was that he felt the king’s presence in the sword. Something was telling him that it was the best prize the dungeon could offer.
He decided that he would aim to get the sword, though he had no idea how he would obtain it. He then decided to finally leave the room.
The moment he got outside, the door closed behind him. It was a secret door that led to an abandoned pathway in the middle of an alley.
He looked around. He was in what looked to be a random alleyway in the dungeon.
That was, until he saw the roof of the building. He saw all sorts of fish were roaming around the roof and sides of the building. He would not realize it right now, but he would soon discover he was underwater.
After talking to some of the people around him, he could hardly believe them. The people would often frown when they heard the question, but all of them gave them the same answer.
He was in Atlantis.
He had read that Atlantis was a city that had been flooded and consumed by the ocean. What he was seeing was the city after it was drowned. Atlantis was flooded a long time ago by the Gods because it was claimed to be a utopia that permitted human greed and promoted selfishness.
But the people that lived here wanted to persevere. And so, they built a large ship to survive the floods. The Gods still wanted to strike them down, so they slowly, while trying to live for as long as possible, built the city under the water to hide from its destroyers.
How could a dungeon be an entire city? How could a dungeon be one of the greatest achievements of human history?
The king, who was the current owner of the dungeon, made it this way. He wanted all the Hunters who entered the dungeon to see what humanity can accomplish.
But the kingdom did not last forever. Nobody knows exactly what happened, but even in memory it still stands as a sign of human rebellion against its oppressors. And it will stand as such until humans have forgotten its existence.
Louis smiled looking at the book from where he got this information. The dungeon had given him enough money to survive for a couple of days. It also gave him official documents making him a citizen.
He was surprised when he was asked to pay at the library for the books. Most libraries were free, but after reading its history, he understood. In this city, nothing goes for free. Here, money goes to those that have earned it, not to those who need it.
People are served in basis of how much money they have, not by how much the need it. Greed, and human ability are the two biggest motivating factors in this city.
Understanding the culture of these people was important, thought Louis, but what exactly did he need to do to clear this dungeon? He had no idea.
For now, he decided to explore more of the place.
Atlantis was not an enormous city. In fact, it was quite small compared to other capital cities. There are many validating reasons as to why, but nobody really cares about that.
The first one of his group he found was May.
“Hey, my little princess” he told her.
May had no idea Louis was there. She was enjoying an ice cream near a parade that was happening in the city.
May later explained to Louis that she was the daughter of a wealthy businessman that died and left everything to her. She then had inherited a very wealthy production factory.
Louis then decided to go with May to her mansion to try and figure out what to do in the dungeon.
