Louis was not having a good time.
He had, unfortunately, landed himself inside of a dungeon by mistake.
He was inside a castle, but to describe it as a castle would be inaccurate.
The palace was black, with lines of rainbow and white color spreading around it.
It was as if they mixed the castle and European aesthetic with neon.
Right now, he was in the middle of what he enjoyed the least in the world.
A political battle for the crown.
What he had to do, or who he had to fight, was hard to understand. They were described as something evil, but an accurate description was never given. They were, after all, nobles who had never seen such a thing.
The throne room was in chaos.
Everyone was shouting and debating with each other.
He went towards one of the windows and stared at the terrible rain outside.
Blood was coming from the sky, raining upon the kingdom in waves and waves.
A soldier breached the doors.
“They are here,” he said. His gaze was never meet eye to eye.
Louis looked at the man, then looked at the different nobles around him.
Politicians are so useless, he thought to himself.
They bicker so much with each other that nothing ever gets solved. And when it does, it's only because they had to protect their integrity.
“Have every single knight available on that wall. We will not rest before we kill every single one of those monsters” he shouted orders; he was used to it.
No fancy plan had come to mind right now, but once he saw what he was fighting, its anatomy, its disposition, its weakness, some plan was surely possible.
He knew too little about his surroundings.
Again, the lack of information was holding him down.
“Is this a grab for power duke of Arch?” asked a surprised nobleman.
“Yes” answered Louis.
“That is not something that we can allow”
You know what you have to do, whispered the King. Ever since he got this stupid sword, the King would whisper orders. Not the king of the kingdom, but the original, first king of history. The one that became a sword.
The King had told him how to stop his progression towards becoming an angel.
He had to behave like a devil.
He closed his eyes.
This is fine, he told himself.
These people are corrupt.
The same kind of people you have been killing before.
He unsheathed his sword.
“Anywho dare defy me and my will, will answer to my sword. I have no time for bickering, nor does this kingdom. If you wish to die right here and now, then so be it. Let me be the one that stabs you” Louis told them.
“Foolishness, you would not dare do such a thing in front of every noble in the kingdom,” said another noble.
That man's head was flying the moment the words left his mouth.
Even though he had done it before, it still made him feel sick to do it so easily.
You must become a devil if you don't want to become an angel.
“Anyone else?” he asked.
“Guards! Seize this man!” shouted another.
And another head was flying.
The guards made no attempt to move.
“I said get every knight on that wall!” Louis shouted to the soldier. The soldiers had not moved. They were as shocked as the nobles.
His order unfroze them.
“And ever noble here is to grab a sword or bow and arrow. You will all fight and participate” he told them.
And he took off.
The moment you left the throne room, you were greeted by a huge balcony, with a garden and a fountain. If you went towards the edge of the balcony, you could see the entire kingdom. He stood, trying to look at the hordes of monsters that were rushing towards the castle.
The darkness and the rain did not allow him to see.
Then, he heard a screech, getting louder and louder.
Booom!
Behind him, at the top of the door leading to the throne room.
A monster had been thrown towards him.
He gripped his sword with two hands, taking a stance against whatever was thrown.
And that is when he saw what he had to fight.
Disgust and shock came to his face.
It had the distinguished features of a bat, with a long tail and razor-sharp teeth. Its arms then split in half, dripping in blood. Its dark eyes looked at Louis like he was but a small snack. It was the color of the night, sometimes showing color through reflection. And it was the ugliest thing Louis had ever seen.
The only good thing was that it was slow.
Like it was unused to moving in its feet.
A group of knights formed around him.
“What are you guys doing? I said I wanted everyone on that wall” asked Louis.
“We could not let you die here, Sir Duke,” said one of the knights.
It extended itself, and everyone present saw the scale of the thing. The thing wasn’t massive, but long, sort of like a Chinese dragon, but thinner, darker, and more I want to kill you.
It started gobbling up the knights like nothing.
We are having trouble with one of these.
How many thousands more are invading this b****y kingdom?
