The First

The angel started to fly away.   A divine being, capable of killing thousands upon thousands of Hunters.   Was running away from a single man.   Kai laughed.   He calmly aimed his arrow, an amused smile on his face.  The angel made all its tridents shoot.   Beams of light went towards Kai, but he still refused to move.  With the entire sea at his side, parted, the beams of light raining down as he aimed his arrow. A brilliant sight was created.  And it was quite a sight to behold.   He let go of his arrow.  The angel looked back and saw the arrow approaching. But before it even thought about dodging, it struck.   Kai had used wind to accelerate the arrow. That was how he was capable of so easily aiming perfectly, even from a distance.   Before, he had damaged the angel three times with normally instantly killing blows. With the bow made of blood, he managed to do even more damage with a single shot.   He calmly aimed another arrow.   He was taking his time because he was sure that he would not miss. He could alter the wind direction, so missing was actually pretty.   The angel kept trying to escape, and it went towards the other angel.   The silver angel found the lesser angel actually doing pretty well.    The group had originally been fifteen people, now there were ten.    And it was using a measly two tridents.  They were having a very hard time as well.  A huge sword was dropped on top of it, and not even that was enough to take it down. It had simply stopped the sword from ever reaching the ground.  Right now, the only one actually putting up a fight was Art.   Everybody else was hiding under cover, as Art moved the waves and the water to protect herself and fight.   The other one that was not hiding was Lucius.   Ever since the Atlantis, he had sort of lost it. He no longer cared about the danger and fought as recklessly as possible.  Art had tried using her powers of gravity, but to no avail. For some reason, this power did not have any effect on the angel.   And things suddenly got worse.   Because the silver angel, completely injured, suddenly appeared.   Art’s eyes widened.   “EVERYBODY GET BACK” she shouted at them.   But they were completely safe.   The one that was not safe was the angels.  The silver angel kept flying away. It most likely wanted to leave Kai to deal with the other angel as it made its escape.  It heard thunder very far away, and it looked back.   He is too far away to find me  But suddenly, a strike of lightning struck it, forcing it to the ground.   YOU DETESTABLE BEING   Kai was walking towards the two angels.   The regular angel turned towards him, and as it moved its tridents to face him, its head exploded. It did not even see the arrow that came towards it.  I was staring in disbelief. All of us had been absolutely powerless towards this creature. It had only used two tridents, and we had not even been close to actually damaging it.   Anything we did was useless.   “Is power really the only way for us to move forward?” asked Alexander.   Nobody had a response.   The question wasn’t directed to anyone anyway, but it was how we all felt.   Louis stared at the sky.   He was a firm believer that tactics, strategy, and wisdom were another way to fight.   He had lived all his life proving just that.  Weakness can be used to create strength.   And he finally saw the true meaning of strength.   What a true Hunter should look like.   The coin in his chest trembled. It shook slightly, as a reminder that one day, he will have to depend on it if he wants to survive.    In the face of complete, absolute power.  Nothing works.   That was what Kai felt like to them.   Kai aimed another arrow, looking at the angel on the floor. His cold gaze displayed nothing. Only boredom. It was, for him, just another kill.   You are no Hunter; you are a demon.  Splat.   It started to rain, as Kai had summoned a thunder cloud striking the angel down. Louis kept looking at the sky. The cold rain felt good to the touch.   “So, who used the power of the giant sword?” Kai asked.   I instantly knew what was going to happen. The first one I looked at was Louis. I shook him as much as I could, wanting to get him to move, to take action.   He still didn’t look at me.   “We have to help him!” I told Louis.  He knew that, if Lucius used that power, Kai would want it.   We all did.   Not even Alexander, who was known for his loyalty to his friends, argued with Kai.    Lucius came up to him himself. The Hunters around him would have sold him off, as they saw Kai as their hero.   In all reality, he had been.   And this hero was about to reap his reward.   I kept shaking Louis to do something, anything.   I didn’t want Lucius to die. I didn’t know him at all. He was pretty much a stranger. Yet, it was a comfort having someone that was not going to stab you in the back close nicer than not having them.  Louis did not move.   I went to Alexander and begged him to help.   He looked at me with tears on his face.   Kai was no anime protagonist, which is always interested in helping strangers. He was interested in the people that were close to him. They were the ones that he became strong for.   And he would continue to grow for them. The rest of the people were, for him, dispensable. Not one of them worth caring about.  It was, after all, better to hunt Hunters than to actually hunt anything else.  How do you think that he became so strong?
