CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX

Third Person P.O.V

After leaving the restuarant Donovan and Stacey went back to the company to finish up their work cause lunch break was already over.

They were kissing in the elevator and Donovan was all so touchy since they left the restuarant and even inside the car under the watchful gaze of Maxwell his driver. He couldn't seam to get enough of Stacey.

Stacey chuckled what has gotten into you today? you are being so touchy, not that I am complaining she said winking at him.

Donovan laughed loudly, could have fooled me there he said pecking her lightly on the nose making her giggle even as they walked out of the elevator.

When a man has such a pretty woman by his side he has no choice than to be possessive of her he replied making her laugh, they were still laughing when Sarah walked out of her office with a file and the sight before her shocked her to her toes.

She couldn't be imagining things now could she? she gasped at the laughing couple whom seam oblivious of her presence as they were engrossed in their own world where no other person existed except them.

This is her first time seeing Donovan laughing like this without a care to the world, then she noticed something. Their bodies were touching intimately and the way Donovan was looking at Stacey it felt like the two were more to each other than meet the eyes.

This sly b***h Sarah said seething with anger, she pretended like it was only work she cared about in this company but who will believe that she was also f*****g the boss. Sarah glared at the two who were still oblivious of her as they went inside Donovan's office. Sarah glared at their back before making her way to the HR's office.

It was an hour later while Donovan and Stacey were going through some files on his desk when they both heard a light knock on his door. Stacey was standing beside him leaning over as Donovan showed her some documents that needed to be sorted out, she straightened up and stared at Sarah who had made her way inside the office and when she met her eyes Sarah gave her a dirty look making Stacey wonder what in the world was wrong with Donovan's secretary.

The woman was mercurial and her behaviour changes faster than the season. Stacey gave her a cold look before looking back at the documents.

In Sarah's mind she was like now that you are f*****g the boss you think you are now better than me. She huffed and then plastered a fake smile on her face.

Tell me Sarah, what is it? Donovan asked glancing up at her.

Sir, the receptionist called to inform me that a miss Catherine is here to see you she said sweetly as if she wasn't just glaring at Stacey right now. Stacey almost scoffed at the saccharrine voice with which she used in talking to Donovan.

Send her in he replied.

Yes sir, she said making her way out.

Why is she here? Stacey asked looking inquiringly at Donovan

Remember I told you we were supposed to go for her check up today Donovan said pulling her to sit on his lap.

Oh I forgot so it's today Stacey said giving him a small smile.

Baby look at me Donovan said turning her face to look into his, if you are uncomfortable with this I will make an excuse and let her go alone, Stacey was already shaking her head.

No.. no.. baby you already promised to go with her, it's only for her check up what will possibly go wrong she said smiling at him.

Donovan smiled, that is why you have to come with us.

Why should I come along? Stacey retorted laughing but she stopped laughing when she saw how serious Donovan looked.

I am not kidding, either you come along or I am not going with her Donovan replied looking intently at her stunned face. They stared at each other for a while before Stacey sighed, she nodded, okay I will come along, happy now.

Donovan smiled widely, I am very happy now he replied making Stacey roll her eyes making him laugh. That same time the door pushed open without the person knocking at the door.

The woman breezed inside the office like she owned the place with a wide smile on her face which died immediately she saw the sight before her, Donovan had an extremely goergous woman on his lap and they were laughing at something while looking into each others eyes.

They both turned to look at her when she entered the office. Catherine swallowed as she felt angry and jealous at the same time but she pretended to smile but that didn't fool Stacey who recognised the mayor's daughter from the pictures she had seen of her. Stacey saw the quick change on her face when she saw them and also how she quickly switched her facial expression to cover up.

Stacey decided not to make any meaning from it.

She smiled, hi am Stacey she said standing up from Donovan's laps as she went to shake hands with the woman.

Hi, Catherine said forcing a smile. Nice to finally meet you she drawled.

I have heard alot about you Stacey said.

All this while Catherine ignored Stacey's outstretched hand, she pretended like she didn't see the hand so Stacey brought her hand down but she didn't let that make her feel bad, infact she saw through the woman before her and she will give her a taste of her own medicine.

She had stopped being sassy when she started working with Donovan cause she didn't want to come off as rude. Due to the nature of their work you have to be patient with people who had different personalities, but then that doesn't mean that she is willing to take s**t from people who would want to trample on her dignity.

She knew a jealous woman when she saw one and the woman before her reeks of it, to Donovan Catherine may be just a friend but Catherine definately didn't see Donovan as one, there was more to it and she will find out. She smiled and went to gather the documents from Donovan's desk.

Catherine turned her face meeting Donovan's eyes who looked blankly at her.

Is anything the matter? she asked as she sat on the couch still looking at Donovan wondering why he was giving her that look.

You know what the matter is Donovan snapped making Stacey who was gathering the documents look and them both. She decided to go do her thing.

I am going to the HR to hand these over, I will be right back so we can leave she said and leaned towards Donovan and gave him a toe curling kiss and they only stopped when Catherine cleared her throat very loudly.

Oh I forgot you were here Stacey said giggling. Don't mind us whenever we kiss time seams to stop and nothing matters again. Be right back love she said walking gracefully out of his office.

Donovan had this goofy smile on his face as he stared at Stacey who was delibrately swaying her hips knowing fully well that he was watching her and when she got to the door she turned and winked at him making Donovan clutch his chest.

My poor heart he said making them both laugh before Stacey left closing the door softly behind her.

After she left Donovan turned to Catherine who had an irritated look on her face. What the f**k was that all about? he asked glaring daggers at her.

What do you mean? she asked pretending as if she didn't know what he was talking about.

Why did you treat Stacey in that manner? when she was only trying to be friendly he asked angrily.

Fine, I know that I was rude but I don't feel comfortable with her she said igniting Donovan's rage.

Why are you not comfortable with her? you just met her for the first time for f***s sake he said angrily.

Calm down D ever since that b***h Fiona, I don't trust any other woman around you okay, I just feel that they don't truly love you and are only after your money she replied making matters worst.

Donovan could hardly supress his anger but still he tried to understand where she was coming from thus he tried to curb in his anger.

Look, I was the one who went through what I went through in the hands of Fiona and I had judged all women as the same all these years but now I have given myself another chance to love again and so far I am loving the way I feel so I am telling you that I love Stacey and she is good for me.

Catherine laughed bitterly at what he said making him raise his brows at her. And what is so funny he asked.

You offcourse she replied. If she was all you said why haven't you made your relationship public so everyone will know who she is to you.

Donovan smirked, you bet I definately will, I was just caught up with the lies we made the public believe and now that it is over nothing stops me from claiming her as mine in public he retorted making Catherine glare at him.

Why are you giving me that look? I hope you have told your father already cause I will no longer be a party to any lies again.

he replied looking intently at her.

Catherine knew that being angry and showing attitude right now will get her no where but rather will spoil her last plans before she finally give into what that b***h Fiona forced her to do. If she is going to feel pain leaving Donovan's side at least his b***h Stacey should not be happy too cause Fiona was there to finish what she couldn't do.

So she cheered up I am sorry D. I shouldn't have judged her before getting to know her. She sighed, did you tell her everything about us? I mean about what we made the public believe. Donovan nodded she knows everything and that you are my friend nothing more.

Catherine noded but inside her she felt very angry and her heart was filled with hate for Stacey. No doubt the lady was as pretty as a goddess but she was equally pretty too why can't Donovan just look at her.

Lets go, I believe you are done for today, its almost time she said standing up.

Stacey is coming with us he said standing up too.

What! she yelled why is she coming along, this was supposed to be just you and I.

Calm the f**k down woman, she is my girlfriend and she has every right to come with me. I don't want the media spewing s**t and making me look bad in front of her. This way she will know that I am being honest with her he replied picking up his phone as well as Stacey's purse which was lying on his desk.

Catherine didn't know what to say she was still fuming in anger when Stacey came in with a bright smile on her face. Catherine wished she could wipe off that smile off her face, Stupid b***h she muttered under her breath.

Did you say something? Stacey asked.

Oh nothing, she replied while forcing a smile, let's go. She walked ahead of them, at this point she didn't care wheather they followed or not. She had such high hopes today only for Donovan and his b***h to f**k it up for her.

They arrived at the big hospital all three of them in Donovan's car. Stacey had left her car at the office while Catherine had come to Donovan's office with an Uber with the intention that she will ride with Donovan alone in his car in order to spend one last time with him as they go to the hospital together, and now her plan has blown up on her face which added to her frustrations.

When they got out she carefully looked around, she hope that her other plan won't flop, she smirked when she sighted them but Donovan was already walking towards the hospital's entrace. He walked between her and Stacey and when they got to the reception, Catherine's file was brought out and a nurse went to check on her doctor to inquire if she could come in for her appointment.

I will be right back, wanna use the restroom Donovan said to Stacey. Catherine sat down and crossed her legs ignoring Stacey who smiled and sat beside her on the seat.

Does he know? She asked looking intently at Catherine who glared at her.

Does who know what? she asked puzzled at her question.

Don't f*****g play dumb with me Catherine, I am sick of you acting as if you and Donovan were a thing rather you were just his friend and nothing more. I know that you are inlove with him she finally said.

Catherine frowned while staring at her, then she suddenly broke into smiles, so what if I am inlove with him, it's not like he will reciprocate that love so why b***h about it when you know the truth she replied.

Stacey sighed, look I have no problem with you being inlove with him she said.

Then why did you ask me if you don't care, to rub it in huh.. she said glaring. I see no point in this discussion.

Let me finish what I am saying before you start ranting. I am saying that I don't care if you are inlove with him or not but don't try to get between us knowing fully well that he will not love you back. Stacey have had enough of this woman's attitude.

Are you threatening me? she asked smiling evily at Stacey.

Call it whatever you want, if you try to come between us, you will regret it am warning you. Donovan has learnt to let go of his past not fully but at least he is trying to do so. If you care about him let him live peacefully with the woman he has chosen. I don't have to prove anything to you or to anyone about my feelings for him. So back off and stop acting like you own him.

When she finished talking Catherine was trembling with rage, who the f**k are you to threaten me? she asked quietly glaring at Stacey.

I have said my piece and oh, too much anger is not good for the baby cause they can feel it's mother's emotions Stacey said standing up while leaving Catherine to herself.

Bitch, Catherine said almost loudly making the nurse that was at the reception turn to look in her direction. She forced a smile when she saw the nurse looking at her, the nurse quickly glanced away.

Don't worry I am not the threat here, the bigger threat will finish what I cannot do to you she said to herself.

The nurse that went to inquire from her doctor if she could come in for her appointment came to inform them that the doctor was ready to receive her. Donovan who had just returned from his visit to the restroom asked Stacey to go with them but she gently refused that he should go in with Catherine and she would wait for them.

Are you sure baby? he asked worried that she might perhaps be feeling left out.

I am sure love she said.

Donovan kissed her lips before following Catherine to see her doctor.

After a while Stacey who was engrossed in her chat with Ryan looked up and saw a grinning Donovan and an equally smiling Catherine as they made their way towards her.

Whatsup she said standing up she smiled at Donovan.

Baby I can't wait for us to have our own baby Donovan blurted out making Stacey blush.

You wanna be a father so bad huh, she asked making Donovan smile widely at her.

Just hearing the little ones heart beat was enough to make me wanna be a father now.

Stacey laughed, you mean like right now she asked making Donovan nod his head.

Come on baby you know that I can't be pregnant through immaculate conception, you have to you know do the deed before I can have a baby for you she replied.

You are right baby, Donovan said holding her waist gently, I still have to f**k you to get you pregnant and we haven't done that yet, How about we start working towards it he said wriggling his brows making her laugh.

They were both engrossed in their conversation, both forgetting that they had company. Catherine only stared at them saying nothing as she watched the two who were immersed into their conversation.

But did she just hear right, Donovan haven't f****d Stacey yet, wow she is so surprised, knowing Donovan's record anyone would quickly think they were already f*****g each other like bunnies. She watched Stacey and couldn't help but notice how comfortable Donovan was with her and how Stacey wasn't trying so hard to impress him but still Donovan couldn't help but show her his affection.

She sighed, if she told herself the truth, with just this few hours she had been in Stacey's company she couldn't help but see how different she was from Fiona. Despite the b***h had threatened her which she knew she derserved , Stacey was really good for Donovan. She can finally say she lost.

Can we go now Catherine said with a chuckle, this is not the place and time for this, you can actually go home and f**k to make a baby she said bluntly. I am tired and I need to rest, remember what the doctor said.

Sorry Cat I was just carried away when I heard the heart beat of your baby he said. I wish you were there to hear it he said turning to Stacey who had a smile on her face seeing this other side of Donovan

Let's go drop you at home he said to Catherine. The three made their way out of the hospital. Immediately they stepped out of the hospital paparazzi surrounded them.

Oh my gush... Stacey said glued to the spot while Donovan was frowning, who the f**k invited these people here?

Sir, is it true that you are expecting a baby with Catherine the mayors daughter? one of them asked. Llights were flashing on their faces.

Who the f**k told you that? Donovan asked angrily. Get the f**k out of my face he growled as he grabed the stupefied Stacey by the hand and with the other hand held Catherine's hand while ushering them inside the car quickly.

Sir, Sir answer us is she pregnant or not? one of them followed them while others also tried to follow. He quickly opened the car and helped both women inside before going around to start the car driving away.

These people are so unbelievable, why do they have to poke their nose into other people's business.

You are no ordinary man D. alot of people would want to sell with the gossips they think they can get about your life.

Donovan huffed....

You should be used to this by now Catherine said smiling happily inside her, she stared at Stacey who was beside her. She had been quiet since saying nothing and when Catherine turned to look at her she saw Stacey equally staring silently at her so she quickly averted her gaze.

Are you alright baby? Donovan who was at the wheel turned behind him to look at his girlfriend who hasn't said a word since.

I am fine, she gave him a small smile, concentrate on your driving, we will talk later she replied.

Okay he said...

Half an hour later they pulled over in front of Catherine's house and after thanking them for going to the hospital with her she stepped out walking towards her gate which was already open for her when the securities saw her get down from the car.

Stacey came out of the car and got into the passenger seat.

As the car drove off Catherine had a smirk on her face. Immediately her phone rang. She answered the call.

You guys did a great job she said, I will wire you the rest of the money.

She hung up grining as she made her way towards the house to go tell her father that she was pregnant.

Donovan stopped the car but left it still running yet both of them made no move to leave the car. I am sorry about what happened he said holding Stacey's hand while running his thumb over the back of her hand. I don't know how they knew we were there. He was still angry about what happened.

It's not your fault Stacey replied in a small voice.

Donovan looked at her, I don't want you to think that I am hiding anything from you he said. That was why I insisted you follow us to the hospital.

She sighed, it looked like someone called them there she said making Donovan furrow his brows in confusion.

Do you think Catherine did it? he asked still confused.

I am not saying that but how did they know we were there for her antenatal she said carefully. She didn't want to straight up and accuse Catherine but she wanted Donovan to see the angle with which she was looking at and let him conclude the rest.

They asked you if you were expecting a baby with Catherine when you two are the only people who knew she was pregnant, why will they ask you that if they didn't know already, she said.

Maybe someone at the hospital gave them that information and also informed them that we were there Donovan replied feeling skeptical, why will Catherine want to share her personal informations like that.

Stacey huffed, maybe someone desperate will do that she added.

Why will Cat be desperate, she had always known that she and I can never be together so what will she gain by doing this.

Because she is inlove with you Stacey yelled making Donovan shocked

Where did you hear that or did she tell you herself he asked

Forget it Donovan it's useless talking to you about this things Stacey said trying to open the door.

Wait baby don't be like that I am only shocked hearing you say this to me. Though I once suspected it but I didn't attribute anything to it. I am sorry if I put you in a spot but I never saw this coming. I won't spare her if I find out she has a hand in this.

Donovan remained silent for a while before speaking quietly, she know how much I hate people betraying me and she went ahead and did same to me.

Stacey saw the change in Donovan's behaviour and she quickly tried to comfort him, I am so sorry baby, sometimes it is people we care about that hurts us the most. But let's not jump into conclusion yet, try to run your investigation before concluding.

Donovan sighed I will see you tomorrow he said speaking quietly again.

Okay baby she replied then they both kissed each other before Stacey left to get her car from the company's parking lot.

As Stacey drove away that was when she remembered that she was supposed to tell Donovan about the package that was sent to her the previous day. One thing or the other keeps coming up. Damn, she truly needed a break, she muttered drively carefully as she thought about the incident that took place at the hospital.

She can bet her last cent that Catherine had something to do with the paparazzi's showing up at the hospital. What she intend to derive from it is what she can't deduce, she saw the victorious look on her face when they were inside the car. She had this smile on her face showing how guilty she was. How could she do this to Donovan after he stood by her, this shows how ungrateful and selfish some people could be.

In a way it is good that Donovan will find out her true colours so in future he wouldn't trust his so called friends blindly. Poor Donovan even him needed a break from all these.

Will they ever be happy together without people trying to break them apart. Stacey sighed, was Ryan afterall right about dating Donovan being a bad idea. She shook her head.

In a way it was Donovan's fault too, why should he consent to all these in the first place, he shouldn't have consented to that idea, that sly b***h must have pulled an emotional blackmail on him for Donovan to agree to her plan and now she has to bear the consequencies of Donovan's bad choice.

She sighed again for the umpteenth time as the view of her building came in sight making her shiver. She didn't know if there will be any package waiting for her again today considering that two was sent in a day for her, who knew what laid in store for her.

Immediately he got home Donovan made his way to his room. He took off his shoes and shirt leaving his trouser on, he was feeling that pang of betrayal. He hated this feeling alot. He picked up his phone dialling a number.

Immediately the person picked up, Donovan went straight to the point.

Tell me, he said.

Sir, there are still no lead on who hit mrs. Miller but I have done what you asked me to do.

Fine. Do one more thing for me, I want you to find out who informed the paparazzi about my visit to the hospital today, am sending you a number, I want her call history and also transactions recently made from her phone.

Right away sir.

How long will it take he asked

Not long sir, once you send the number I will give you the information you need.

Donovan sighed. Okay

I am always at your service, don't worry the voice said

Donovan hung up before taking off the rest of his clothes and getting inside the bathroom to take a bath.

THE NEXT DAY

The social medias and the tabliods were already flooding with the news that Donovan Green was expecting a child with his girlfriend Catherine the mayor's daughter. There were pictures of him both entering and leaving the hospital and also a picture of a happy faced Donovan which was taken when he came out of the doctor's office smiling.

Ryan was already calling Stacey to ask her if she had read what was written online but she told him she didn't care and she was busy at the office. Donovan himself acted less concern about the news.

After the 12.pm board meeting he had with the Board of Directors in his board room he was about to leave when some of the men came to congratulate him, at first Donovan didn't know what they were going on about before they said they were congratulating him on his girlfriend's pregnancy, Donovan just kept a stoic face saying nothing but he was fuming inside of him thinking of different ways to teach Catherine a lesson never to mess with him again.

He went to his office he could already feel a headache coming in so he rubbed his temple slowly, a slight knock at the door and Stacey walked inside.

Did you have to knock before entering your boyfriend's office he said not lifting his head.

She scoffed, what about I walk in on you while doing the dirty, I am still innocent she said trying to make a joke.

Donovan chuckled, raising his head up to look at her, come here he said. She went to him but instead of sitting on his lap which Donovan wanted her to do, instead she offered to massage his shoulders to lossen him up a bit. You are too stressed these days, you need to take care of yourself too after taking care of the company she said.

He sighed, I know baby and I am working towards it, His phone beeped and he checked his phone going straight to his inbox and immediately he frowned. b***h he growled.

What is it? Stacey asked tensing up looking inquiringly at him.

Donovan frowned, Catherine is behind everything that happened at the hospital and she also paid someone from the media to write all those s**t, I won't spare her

Stacey didn't know what to say, she was about to speak when Donovan's intercome beeped, he picked up

Yes tell me, he growled making Sarah who was at the other end of the line flinch, she wondered why he was angry, she had expected to see Stacey all gloomy today after seeing what's trending online but she was baffled that the former acted normal.

anyways she had to state why she called the boss.

Sir, Someone is here to see you, he is at the reception she said.

Does he have an appointment with me? he asked

No sir.

Then it's not important, I don't want to see anyone right now he said

But sir, he said it is very important that he speaks to you

Donovan groaned angrily, what's the person's name.

He goes by the name Edward Duke

Doesn't ring a bell, book an appointment with him for tomorrow he said hanging up.

The intercome beeped again

What now? he growled angrily

Sir, he wants to speak to you about Catherine.
