She almost missed the spinning ball of electric power, not because it was small, but because it was so familiar it faded in the background of her awareness. As she circled the artifact’s magical representation, aspects of its signature revealed themselves one by one. There was the igneous rock that echoed with her own element of storm. Here was the weight of age that meshed it so well into the unending flow of magic. And here was the energy that set it apart. So unrecognizable as to be undetectable. Shadowy tendrils linked the meteor to yet another plane Toria could not access. She memorized every detail possible, as this might be her one chance to examine what had to be temporal energy. The shadows felt like nothing, drifting away into oblivion even as those nearest screamed against her
