His cry of alarm strangled and died beneath her grip. The man clawed at the lapels of Victory’s coat until lack of air turned scrabbling fingers against her hands. Victory leaned over him, her gaze boring into his eyes. They bulged in fear. If he knew she was a vampire, he might have closed his eyes in defense. But she had the upper hand, and he soon caved beneath her attention. “Stop. Just stop.” Victory preferred a physical fight to pushing mental power behind her words. But she was hungry, this guy was a jerk who attacked defenseless women, and she was in no mood to make things more difficult for herself. She eased her grip on his throat before he suffocated.
