THE HOUSE THAT NEVER FORGOT
EPISODE 6 — FORTY-SEVEN KEYS
Daniel ran through the memory room.
Behind him, glass shattered continuously.
He reached a staircase.
At its bottom sat a wooden table.
Forty-seven keys covered it.
Each key carried a number.
The old Daniel appeared beside him.
“Choose one.”
Daniel looked confused.
“What does it open?”
“A life.”
Daniel picked up key twenty-three.
The room disappeared.
He stood inside a school.
Emily was beside him.
But she was seventeen years old.
Daniel stared.
“This isn't my memory.”
“No,” Emily replied.
“It is mine.”
Daniel suddenly understood.
The house had not only copied Daniel.
It had copied everyone connected to him.
Emily's memories were trapped here too.
A bell rang.
Everyone in the school froze.
Emily grabbed Daniel's hand.
“We have to leave.”
“Why?”
“Because they are waking up.”
The students slowly turned toward Daniel.
Every face was his.
Young Daniel.
Old Daniel.
Broken Daniel.
Smiling Daniel.
Forty-seven versions stood together.
Then one stepped forward.
“You took our life.”
Daniel shook his head.
“I don't remember doing that.”
The version smiled.
“That is why we hate you.”
The school lights went out.
When they returned, Emily was gone.
Daniel found himself holding another key.
It was numbered zero.
A note was attached.
DO NOT USE THIS KEY.
Daniel heard Emily screaming somewhere nearby.
He ran toward the sound.
The key in his hand began glowing.
Again. Tonight.
