THE SECOND HOUSE

THE HOUSE THAT NEVER FORGOT EPISODE 10 — THE SECOND HOUSE Daniel stared through the doorway. The second house looked exactly like the first. Another Daniel stood inside. He raised the key. Emily whispered, “Close the door.” Daniel didn't move. The other Daniel smiled. “You're finally here.” “Here where?” “At the beginning.” Daniel stepped across the threshold. Emily shouted after him. The door slammed shut. Inside, everything was reversed. The windows were on opposite walls. The staircase descended from the ceiling. Photographs showed events Daniel remembered differently. He saw himself meeting Emily for the first time. But in this memory, Emily already knew him. He saw their daughter. She was older. She looked frightened. Daniel touched the photograph. It whispered: “Don't trust the man wearing your face.” The other Daniel stood behind him. “Who are you?” “I am the version that escaped.” “Escaped from what?” “The house.” Daniel stared. “Then why did you come back?” The other Daniel looked toward the ceiling. “Because something escaped with me.” A deep sound moved through the walls. Like footsteps. Like breathing. The other Daniel handed him the key. “Whatever happens, don't open the basement.” Daniel looked at the key. It was labeled 48. “What's in the basement?” The other Daniel's expression changed. “My original memory.” Suddenly Emily appeared behind them. She looked different. Older. Angrier. She whispered: “You found him.” Daniel turned. The other Daniel smiled. Then Emily said the words Daniel feared most. “He isn't your copy.” “He is your father.” Again.
