THE HOUSE THAT NEVER FORGOT
EPISODE 11 — THE FATHER
Daniel stared at Emily.
“My father died when I was twelve.”
Emily shook her head.
“That is what you remember.”
The other Daniel stepped forward.
“I gave you that memory.”
Daniel's hands trembled.
“Why?”
“Because you asked me to.”
The house became silent.
Daniel remembered a man standing beside him in the laboratory.
His father.
But he wasn't old.
He was young.
They were building the machine together.
Daniel had forgotten everything.
His father explained that the original experiment was never designed for immortality.
It was designed to preserve memories after death.
But Daniel changed it.
He wanted to transfer consciousness.
His father warned him.
Daniel ignored him.
The machine malfunctioned.
His father disappeared.
Daniel believed he had died.
But the truth was worse.
His father's consciousness had become the house itself.
“You are the house.”
The other Daniel nodded.
“I became its first memory.”
Daniel touched the wall.
“Why did you create me?”
His father answered:
“Because I needed someone who could finish the experiment.”
Emily stepped between them.
“No.”
“She always tries to stop us.”
Daniel looked at Emily.
“Why?”
She whispered:
“Because your father doesn't want to escape the house.”
“Then what does he want?”
The lights went out.
The father's voice came from every wall.
“To become everyone.”
A door opened somewhere upstairs.
Forty-seven voices began whispering Daniel's name.
Then one voice said something different.
“Run.”
Daniel recognized it.
His own.
