EPISODE 2 — THE GIRL BEHIND THE DOOR
Daniel stared at the girl.
“Who are you?”
She smiled.
“You know me, Dad.”
Emily pulled Daniel backward.
“Don't listen to her.”
The girl tilted her head.
“Why are you afraid of me, Mom?”
Daniel froze.
Mom.
He looked at Emily.
“You said she died.”
Emily's face went pale.
“I was wrong.”
The girl stepped closer.
“I didn't die, Dad. You did.”
Daniel felt the room spin.
“What do you mean?”
She pointed toward the bedroom.
“There's someone waiting inside.”
The door slowly opened.
Daniel saw himself standing in the darkness.
Another Daniel.
The double smiled.
“You finally made it.”
Daniel couldn't speak.
His double walked forward.
Emily whispered:
“That's the original.”
Daniel looked at her.
“But you said the old man was the original.”
“I lied.”
The double stopped inches away.
Then he whispered:
“Forty-seven versions of you were created.”
Daniel swallowed.
“Why?”
The double smiled.
“Because the first forty-six failed.”
Daniel asked:
“Failed at what?”
The girl answered from behind him.
“Remembering who killed you.”
Daniel turned.
The girl was crying.
Then she whispered:
“It was me.”
The lights went out.
And somewhere in the apartment, Daniel heard his own voice screaming.
