While Carl waited for City Hospital to confirm that Dario Finestra was well enough to be interviewed, he received an update from Sgt Dean Lang on Forensics’ search of Finestra’s vehicle and residence.
‘Some interesting stuff in a sports bag under the front seat of the Toyota, Inspector. A syringe with a needle attached to it inside a plastic container lined with cotton wool, a length of rubber tubing, a tablespoon, a small bottle of water, a screwdriver, a box of latex gloves and several packets of an off-white powder,’ said Sgt Lang.
‘Any idea what the powder is?’
‘Heroin would be my guess but I’m getting it tested along with the powder we found in his apartment.’
‘Anything else?’
‘I’ve got two handguns in addition to the one he had on him, and more than enough material
