Day FiveAfter breakfast the following morning, Bill and Sally set out for work. There had been a thaw in the night so the roads weren't as treacherous as they had first thought. Dropping Sally off at the nursery, Bill stepped down from the car and gave her his card showing both his home and office number. “If you want to phone me at work please do, I'd love to hear from you during the day.”
“Won't you be too busy Bill?” said Sally, looking down at the card. “You told me you had two important clients to see today. I wouldn't want to interrupt you at work.”
“If things are tricky I'll say so, but please ring me. I don't know how I'll get through the day without at least hearing from you.” He was finding it difficult to leave her for a minute, let alone the whole day.
