Day SixThe following morning, still tormented by the thought of Sally being torn from him by her parents, Bill washed and dressed in silence.
Sally knew she wouldn't leave Bill, no matter what her parents said, but how could she convince him of that? She was sorry she had told him how dominating they could be, or of even mentioning, Peter Thompson.
Arriving at the nursery Bill helped Sally from the car and pulling her to him, he kissed her. “Ring me anytime. I'll instruct Miss Anderson to put you through no matter what I'm doing. I'll try not to be too late this evening. I love you, Sally.”
Sally told him she would speak to her mother once she had settled the children. “I've told you, darling, it'll be alright. I promise to ring you with the good news before eleven o'clock.”
