NINE: DAMIEN’S POV.
Deep down, I wasn’t happy that Catherine had left this pack with the Lycan king.
How possible is it that he was her mate, when it was that same day that I had rejected her.
For some time, I had began to regret why I had rejected her even when I knew that the feelings I had for her were still intact.
Heaving deeply, I walked towards the vacant seat in my room when a maid came to announce the arrival of the pack’s seer.
“He’s here?” I asked confusingly, because he didn’t inform me of his arrival so it was enough to make me worried.
The only time he comes without an invitation is to warn me of an impending danger, while I find a way to stop it.
“You can go,” I dismissed the maid, and sighed deeply before walking out of my room towards the meeting room—
“You’re welcome,” I flashed him a smile and sat on my seat, while he stood—staring at me deeply.
“You let her go?” He asked, still staring at me deeply leaving me confused on who I allowed to go—
“Who are you talking about?” I asked confusingly and he sighed deeply, facepalming herself in the process.
“That maid,” He said and my eyes widened.
I was confused if that was the main reason he came here, and wondered if Catherine was worth it.
“Why did you come here because of her?” I asked confusingly he chuckled slightly.
“I’m sure you’d be thinking she’s just an ordinary maid,” He said and I opened my palms, shrugging in the process.
“That’s who she is right? She’s just an ordinary maid right?” I asked anxiously, as I waited for him to talk to me.
“No,” He said simply, and then there was silence.
The kind of awkward silence that held a lot of unanswered questions—but still, I impatiently waited for him to continue talking but he didn’t.
“She’s not just a maid—she’s from a rare and powerful blood line and your mate,” He said but stopped talking, and glared at me.
“Ex mate,” He said and made to leave when I stopped him with my words.
“I’ll get her back by all costs,” I said defiantly and he turned to stare at me with creased brows.
“Don’t! You better don’t act rash because it’ll lead you nowhere,” He said and walked out, making me confused the more.
I was confused on what to do—
I wanted her back at all costs, but at a time— I felt like giving up.
I had rejected her then just because I had felt she was weak, too weak to be my mate.
But then—seeing the Lycan King accepting someone I had rejected made me angry.
There and then, I swore to get her back—
I’d do everything within my power to get her back, but still—I wished and hoped silently, that it doesn’t turn out to be a war between the two packs.
As I was still lost in thoughts, Seraphina walked in and I rolled my eyes unconsciously at her making her really pissed.
“What are you doing here?” I asked the moment she got to where I stood—
“Nothing really,” She responded, still glaring deeply at me.
“You are still worried about Catherine right?” She asked, but I couldn’t talk.
I couldn’t deny it—
It was the truth and accepting it was going to cause another problem between us—so I felt keeping mute was the best thing to do that moment.
“So I’m even right and that’s the main reason you refused to say anything,” She said, but I hissed and walked out while she followed me slowly, ranting loudly.
I just couldn’t take it anymore—
“What gave her the right to talk to me in that manner?”
“It seems like she’s not scared anymore,” I sighed deeply ignoring her rants until she said something I just couldn’t take.
“It’s that good for nothing girl that you’re worried about,” She said and I faced her, my eyes blazing with fury.
“How dare you call her a good for nothing girl?” I asked angrily, and she gulped down nervousness—staring at me as she pleaded with her eyes.
“Don’t....you....dare call her that again,” I stammered angrily and she nodded shaking in fright while I walked out in anger.
I wasn’t just myself as I was worried with the thought of how I could make Catherine want to come back with me when my mind drifted to the conversation we had before the Lycan king came to take her.
The way she glared at me showed that she didn’t care about me one bit anymore and I sighed deeply....
I committed an abominable act towards her, and I knew it wasn’t going to be easy convincing her to come back with me—but at least—I wasn’t going to give up that easily—
I was going to try my possible best—and I’d make sure she comes back with me.
Still, I was confused on the first step to take—when the thought of Catherine came to my mind.
It was that moment I knew that I have always loved her, and my reason for rejecting her was a very stupid one.
Sighing deeply, I walked out and sent for my beta—I had to tell him about my upcoming trip.
I was determined to do everything within my power to get her back, but first things first—
Paying them a visit wouldn’t be a bad idea after all—
Seeing Catherine and The Lycan King together was something I can never accept, and I’ve come to the conclusion that even if it meant fighting or a war breaking out because of this—then I do not care—
If I see Catherine in the blue moon pack, I’d start by begging her—and keeping my pride aside.
My mind drifted back to seraphina and I began to wonder what I’ll do with her—
Sending her back wouldn’t be a bad idea—but I’d give up on anything that would make me leave Catherine alone.
