Veronica’s POV
"I will be leaving for Italy for business," said Bruno. My heart sank at this, and I felt a pang of anxiety. "How about me?" I asked, my voice laced with concern. "What will happen to me while you're away?" I added, my eyes locked on his, seeking reassurance.
"I will leave you in Victor's care," He replied, which made me scared when I remembered what Victor had done to me. "Why Victor?" I asked, my voice trembling with fear and distrust. "After what he did to me, how can I trust him to keep me safe?" I added, my eyes wide with anxiety. Bruno's expression softened, and he took a step closer to me, but I stepped back, my heart racing with apprehension.
"Bruno, how can you even suggest leaving me with him?" I asked, my voice shaking
