Veronica’s POV
As I stood there, frozen in fear, Bruno's eyes narrowed, his gaze fixed on Carlos's retreating back. "Vince Decalibo," he muttered, his voice low and menacing. "He thinks he can play me, but he's wrong. I'll show him who's boss."
Suddenly, his phone rang, shrill in the silence. Bruno answered, his voice curt. "Yes, Vince. I know you're watching. But you'll never take me down."
He listened for a moment, his eyes glinting with anger. "You think you have the upper hand, but you're wrong. I have something you want, something that will keep you in line."
He paused, his gaze flicking to me. "Yes, Veronica. She's the key to our little arrangement. And if you want her to stay safe, you'll do exactly as I say."
