Chapter 2: 00. Invite Her for a Trio Adventure! Half a month ago, Edward Priestley was still her boyfriend, the kind that grew up with her. But on her birthday, he used the excuse of working overtime and spent the night with Sylvia Congreve. She only knew about it because Sylvia Congreve called her using Edward Priestley's phone, inviting her to join them for a threesome! The sound of their heavy breathing, drunk and passionate, echoed in her mind, causing Samantha Huntington to feel a wave of nausea. Her marriage to Oliver Donald was a direct result of that call. Accidentally capturing a photo of Oliver Donald and his mother was also because of this couple. Today, not only did she have to endure the cold, but she also had to stand in a crowd and take photos of this despicable pair... Suddenly, Samantha Huntington felt that it wasn't that her and Oliver Donald were incompatible; rather, she was incompatible with this despicable couple. In December, the capital was so cold it was terrifying. Samantha Huntington wrapped herself up like a clumsy bear, every part of her body covered except for her eyes. When she arrived at the event, there weren't many people yet. She adjusted her camera settings and immediately took the best spot. Just as she was settling in, a familiar voice came from behind. "Baobao, what are you doing here?" Turning around, Samantha Huntington saw Edward Priestley, dressed in a suit, and felt a sharp pain in her eyes. He had even gotten a new haircut to accompany Sylvia Congreve on the red carpet, making him look more handsome than usual. With a cold expression, before she could speak, she was pulled away from the work area. "Hey! Let go of me!" Her voice, though low, betrayed her frustration. Despite their breakup, he was still pulling her around, which she found extremely annoying. However, she was too weak to break free from his grip. Edward Priestley led her to a secluded area and spoke softly, trying to soothe her. "Baobao, go back first. We can talk privately later." Edward Priestley's gentleness triggered something in Samantha Huntington, and her eyes welled up with tears. How could someone who had always been so gentle suddenly cheat on her and ask her to do such a disgusting thing?! Samantha Huntington wanted to tell herself that everything that happened half a month ago was a lie. But— The next second, she heard the man holding her face and apologizing. "Baobao, I'm sorry. But that day, they got me really drunk, and she kept clinging to me. I was so drunk, I thought she was you..." His soft explanation felt like a bucket of cold water, dousing Samantha Huntington's illusions. She pushed him away, hurt, and said, "Don't touch me. I find you disgusting!" With that, she turned to leave, intending to return to her post. But a woman in an evening gown blocked her path. "Samantha Huntington, you find Edward disgusting? Take a good look at yourself. You have no figure and don't care about your appearance. It was a miracle that Edward stayed with you for so long." Wearing a mask, no one could see the anger in her lips. She forced herself to stay calm. "Sylvia Congreve, you know very well that Edward and I were together for years. So, is being a homewrecker something to be proud of? How dare you criticize me!" Sylvia Congreve, surprised by the usually meek girl's sharp tongue, changed her expression. Edward Priestley, not wanting to make a scene, urged, "Go back!" His tone was urgent, with a hint of stern warning. Sylvia Congreve regained her composure, went over, and hooked her arm through Edward Priestley's, continuing to mock Samantha Huntington. "You see, now Edward is with me. Have some self-awareness and stop bothering him. Leave now, or I'll call security to remove you." "I'm here for work," Samantha Huntington said, unwilling to engage further with these scumbags. But Edward Priestley didn't believe her. "Samantha Huntington, this is the Starlight Ceremony, not a place for you. I tolerated you before because you had some genuine and innocent qualities. Don't force me to hate you! Leave now!" Sylvia Congreve, feeling smug, curled her lip and looked at her with disdain. Edward Priestley's words cut deep into Samantha Huntington. The more she missed his gentleness, the more she despised him now! She turned to show her work ID, but the zipper on her down jacket pocket wouldn't open. Seeing her struggle, Sylvia Congreve shouted, "Security! Security! Get this woman out, she might have dangerous items!" A patrolling security guard, recognizing Sylvia Congreve as a rising star from Glory Entertainment, saw the ordinary girl in a light gray down jacket struggling with the zipper and assumed she was a stalker. They rushed over and dragged her away. The Starlight Ceremony was an annual event, and the editor had specifically instructed that it would be the front-page story tomorrow. If she was kicked out, Oliver Donald might punish her again. Thinking of this, Samantha Huntington struggled and explained, "I'm a journalist, I'm here for work." "All stalkers say that. We've heard it all before!" The guards continued to drag her out. Edward Priestley didn't intervene, looking relieved. Sylvia Congreve, even more smug, smiled as if enjoying a show. Samantha Huntington, both angry and anxious, heard a deep, pleasant male voice. "Let her go." Three simple words, spoken calmly, carried an undeniable authority. The two guards, upon seeing the source, let go of her. Unprepared, Samantha Huntington nearly fell. Looking up, she saw Oliver Donald standing in front of her, surrounded by a large entourage, exuding an overpowering presence. Samantha Huntington was stunned. The man looked at her, his gaze cool and mocking. A middle-aged man in a suit approached, bowing and saying, "Mr. Donald, this might be a stalker. For the sake of order, we should escort her out." Ignoring the explanation, Oliver Donald, after a moment of watching Samantha Huntington's disheveled state, asked condescendingly, "Why aren't you coming over?"
