Backfired

Lou and her little sister Fanny were in their Granny's kitchen playing. There was a bunch of commotion coming from outside Jane the girl's grandmother went and opened the door and told her father and uncle to settle down. She comes back in and tells the girls to go get ready for bed. They went and brushed their teeth and brushed their hair they already had on their pj's. They went to the living room to give love and say good night. As they were making their way in there from the kitchen the door burst open and Jeff and Tony burst in yelling and arguing and Jill right behind trying to quiet them and calm them "Guys the children the girls" Jill pleaded with them. Jane was laying down on the couch she rises up points at the two men and says "You two shut up I'm going to put the girls in my bed. when I get back you two are going to settle this civilly." Jill speaks up "No mom I'll take them home and go to bed there." coming back at her "No they will stay here all I have heard the last two nights is arguing and yelling from you three you two now dang it things will settle down around here it's been drama drama drama over what drugs money really enough. I'm sure the girls would enjoy sleeping through the night without being woken up throughout the night." rolling her eyes "Fine your right but I'm their mother I will put them to bed in your bed and stay in there with them I'll lay down with them till they go to sleep. You think you can stop these two and get them to come to their senses ain't happening they won't listen to nothing stubborn and hard headed. Come on girls give Granny and Daddy and uncle kisses hugs and says good night. Mommy is going to go lay down with y'all." They did as their mother told them. They went and laid down it didn't take too long to get them asleep. Hours later Jeff and Tony started arguing again this time Tony had gone and got Jeff's rifle from his trailer. Jane screamed "don't you two fight with that gun in here like tug of war you two could kill one of us. Get it out of here. Jill get in my room with the girls to make sure they aren't awake you ain't doing nothing but adding grease to their fire anyways." Jane goes towards the bedroom and Lou is standing in the doorway rubbing her eyes " Is everything ok where is Granny? The yelling woke me up." Lou said grogally. Jill goes to the bed and picks Fanny up and puts her under the bed and says to Lou " Come on baby you gotta hide ok and no matter what you hear don't get out from under this bed and keep your sister under here to ok no matter what you hear don't come out from under the bed." she makes sure they are under there and she runs to the living room. Lou's little heart is beating fast and she is scared something will happen to her granny. The way her mother acted and said, she heard her mother talking to her father about wishing her grandmother would get hurt the night before. She didn't want anything to happen to her. She didn't want to get in trouble for going in there so she whispered to Fanny "Go check on Granny to make sure she is ok." fanny gets out from under the bed and starts pulling on her diaper "Go have granny fix it go." holding pacifier in her mouth turns and walks towards her granny as her sister told her. Yes everything is going to be ok now Lou thought. Then the booming shot rang out Jill screamed and then everything was quiet. Scared stiff Lou was afraid to even breathe. Lou heard voices she couldn't tell who they were or what they were saying from the ringing in her ears. She manages to finally stand up as she gets to the open bedroom door and sees her great uncle's vehicle speeding off. Her granny comes towards Lou crying "Its ok baby sissy will be ok" What happened was the gun backfired and the bullet ricocheted off the wood stove and air conditioner into her 2 year old sisters head. When the gun backfired Tony ran out the door and through the woods and Jill and Jeff picked up Fanny and ran out to the vehicle to go to the hospital.
