Consequences Unfold

A few minutes after Elara left, Timothy drove into Edward’s yard. He dashed into the house to seek answers. He wanted to know why his beloved brother would do this to him. “Edward!!!!! Edward!!!!” he screamed at the top of his voice. “Come out here and face me. What did I ever do to you?” Timothy was really broken. He needed answers from his brother. Upon hearing Timothy’s voice, Edward ran downstairs with a guilty face, feeling remorseful for what he had done. “Timothy, I can explain.” Edward tried to calm him down. “I know I’ve messed up and things will never be the same again, but please hear me out,” he said. Timothy let out a deep breath and sat down. “Okay, go on,” he said, giving Edward the go-ahead to explain himself. “Thank you,” Edward said, walking to the window, looking at the buzzing cars and the busy activities of the day, then turning to face Timothy. “Okay, it all started like this,” he began. “The first week of April, when you sent her to get you some documents you needed urgently to work on, you couldn’t come pick them up yourself, so you sent your wife….” Timothy gave him a look that could rip his heart out. “Mmm… mmm… mmm…” he cleared his throat. “I mean Tina. I was alone in the house at that moment as Elara was away visiting her parents. She didn’t knock but walked into my room, finding me naked as I was cleaning my body after taking my bath.” He sat at the far end of the chair. “I… I tried to push her out, but she refused. She told me how you’ve starved her s*x for months due to your busy schedule. She undressed and forced herself on me. I only realized what I’ve done when it was over.” He buried his head on the ground, feeling so guilty that he couldn’t look at his brother’s face. “Yes, I know I should have ended whatever we started right there, but I couldn’t. She always threatened to accuse me of forcing myself on her if I didn’t do as she said. And somehow, I wanted it.” “I’m really sorry, brother. I truly regret my actions. Please forgive me.” Timothy couldn’t say anything. He just sat there, frozen and broken. He got up and stood there, giving Edward a dead stare. All manner of bad thoughts crossed his mind, but he couldn’t speak. He turned around and walked out. Edward followed him, calling his name, but he refused to give him any attention. He sat in his car and drove out. Timothy drove to the club just to get his mind off the situation. He had never tasted alcohol before, but because of this, he had to. He was so drunk, but he had to leave for the house as he had a meeting with an important client the next morning. As he was driving, he wasn't paying attention to the road and he was feeling dizzy as well. He turned the wheel, causing him to drive on the other side of the road. A bigger car was coming at high speed, honking uncontrollably, so he tried to get out of the way. In a panic, he lost control of the car, drove into a nearby bush, and collided with a big tree. The front glass of the car broke, and his head hit the wheel, causing him to lose consciousness. Selene had just started her day, still worried about what had happened. Then she got a call from an unknown number. “Hello, this is Nurse Dina from the City Hospital,” she said calmly. “Mr. Timothy has just been rushed into our hospital unconscious. Your number was saved as Mom, which is why we reached out to you first.” Selene’s heart started racing. The first problem hadn’t been solved yet. She couldn’t afford to lose her son. “I… I’ll be there soon,” her hands trembling, her voice shaky. “Please give him all the necessary attention and treatments. We can afford it, just do all you can.” She hurriedly informed Mr. Cole so they could go together. In the car, she called Edward to inform him of what had happened. She was very broken. Edward rushed to the hospital before them, as his residence was closer. His parents arrived five minutes later. “How is he doing?” Selene asked, standing behind the door as they looked at his unconscious body. He was placed under oxygen, with many wounds being treated. Mr. Cole was really angry but kept his cool. Timothy had raised his business to the highest level after he retired. He loved Timothy more than anything. Seeing him in this condition really broke him. “If anything happens to him, you’d have me to contend with,” he said and walked out. They were all silent, watching with guilt. “Mom, this is all my fault. Had I known…” Edward broke down in tears, leaning on his mother’s shoulder. “Honey, we’ll fix this. Get a hold of yourself. Your father has every right to be angry; he’ll come around,” Selene said, trying to calm him down. She was scared of losing Timothy but couldn’t scold Edward either.
