Chapter 8 - The Pain

1207 Words
- Andy’s P.O.V. - “His what?!” After yelling at Nettle I felt terrible. “I’m sorry Nettle. I just wasn’t expecting.. well.. her.” I wasn’t naïve to believe that he hadn’t been with anyone before we found out that we were mates, but I also didn’t think that he had a girlfriend at this moment. I would have thought that would be something he might have mentioned before hand. “I’m sorry miss. Would you like for me to take you back to your room?” Her eyes were filled with pity. I hated when people felt bad for me. I can’t take their sympathy. I found my mind returning to the thought of the bed waiting for me back at the room, but I know going back this upset I would never be able to settle down. “No Nettle. I’m going to go outside for some fresh air.” She didn’t say a word, only nodded her head in understanding. She gave a curtsying bob before simply walking past me down the hall. Not to long ago, I remember walking by two enormous glass doors that look like they opened to a garden. Hastily I make my way back to those door before bursting through them. The fresh air instantly pierced my lungs as I gasp at how bad my body needed it. This is exactly the right place to calm down but even the beauty of the garden couldn’t keep my mind from drifting into those lingering thoughts. Why did I agree to come here? Is Harrison ever going to accept me as his mate? How could he possibly, when he has a girlfriend already? I feel so stupid. But we are his mate. Eveny echoed in my head. He won’t pick us over Stephanie and her wolf. Why would he possibly want a servant for a mate when he has her? Eveny began whimpering in my mind. See. Even she believes that Harrison wouldn’t pick us. She pulled back into the recesses of my mind. Trying to hide from my negative mind at the moment. What in the world do I do now? My mate loves another woman, but I can’t go back to my pack. I truly believe my step mother will have me killed instead of having to live with the embarrassment of a stepdaughter that couldn’t keep the king satisfied. I know what my answer is. I’m going to have to run away. I will have to get far away from here and I can join another pack or maybe just go rogue. I will get away from Harrison and Stephanie and build a new life for myself. I’ll find someone who truly wants me. Who will truly love. I could hear Eveny growling in my mind. She didn’t like the idea of us leaving our mate or finding someone else. To her it was only Harrison that would make us happy. Once we find a new home and get settled, I’m sure she’ll see the light and know it was the right choice. Walking a long the cobble stone path that weaved it’s way around the different areas of the garden brought a smile to my face. For now, I was no longer going to think of Harrison. I was going to let my mind clear out of anything that was bringing me down. Normally a run is a wonderful way to clear my head, but being around unfamiliar woods I didn’t trust myself not to get lost. My senses filled will all the sweet fragrances of the different flower that called the garden beds home. The different colors all mixing together were melodious to my eyes. I never got many chances to visit the garden at my old pack house. Nor were they this splendidly kept. The gardeners here are true artist. Without warning, an intense pain ran through my body. I buckled over from the ferocity of it coursing down me. I have never felt a pain like this in my life. I would take any of the kind of hits or slaps that Taylor would give me over this. The legs collapsed underneath me. I could no longer support my body upright. My hands and knees scraped against the edges of the stones as I met them with force. I could make out the reverberating sound of boots running towards me on the stone. Two guards on either side of me rapidly dropped to their knee. “Miss, what is the matter? Are you alright?” One asked as the other tried to help me to my feet. “Pain.” I managed to get out before doubling back over in misery. “Go get more help! Now!” The guard holding me yelled to the other. He moved at almost a lightning speed. “Don’t worry miss. Help is coming.” The tears began to roll down my cheeks. It felt as though my body was physically being ripped apart. I can’t imagine that I will survive this. My body twisted and turned as the pain was taking over. The guard is trying to hold me back from me hurting myself. The sounds of fast approaching feet again filled my ears. Please be help. “Doctor Mitchell, we found her bent over like this in immense pain.” The voice of the other guard spoke up. “Did any of you see what happened?” An older gentleman’s voice spoke mildly but with authority. A pain then ripped through my heart. I could no longer agonize in silence. An unrecognizable ear piercing scream left my lips as I once more crumpled down in pain. “I don’t know what is wrong, but we need to get her to my clinic now.” The doctor’s words gave me little peace. I could feel someone pick me up from the ground and begin to run with me in his arms. The seconds passing felt like hours. With each step the pain pushed more and more through my veins. The man burst straight into a set of doors that I’m praying belong to the doctor’s clinic. “What is going on?” A female voice sounded flustered. Right behind us the other guard and doctor too came flying through the doors. “Lay her down on the bed in that first room!” The doctor started giving out other orders to nurses and staff that rushed over to lend their assistance. Laying down on the bed I can feel every inch of my body that is riving in agony. The screams became more frequent as I thrashed around. Begging for someone to please just kill me. Make it go away. “I need someone to hold her down.” The doctor yelled as he rushed to my bedside. I could then feel two pairs of hands on either of my arms and a pair holding my legs down. The doctor quickly stuck me with a needle. The pain slowly beginning to subside. I could feel my eyelids starting to feel incredibly heavy. I tried to fight the feeling but I could no longer hold my eyes open and darkness began to slowly take me away.
