-Andy’s P.O.V.-
We pulled onto a long straight road that has gigantic trees lining along the sides of it. They slowly begin to thin out to reveal a plateau with a white gleaming castle upon it came into view. I blinked a few times as my jaw dropped in awe.
“Welcome home.” Harrison leaded over to me. I turned to face him with a smile upon my face. I couldn’t believe that this is now my home.
Our vehicle started climbing the mountain side to be met by a gilded gate opening to let us in. Trees began to follow us again through the gate, I liked all the forested area, until we got to the top where it completely cleared out to make way for gardens running on either side us us. The drive began the curve around to take us to the front of the castle.
I still can’t get over that, a castle. I’m going to live in a castle, well, at least for now. Until he accepts me, if he ever does, I need to keep in mind this is temporary. I need to find a skill that I could my a life with. I was never given much of an opportunity for school, when I was younger I went a bunch, but once I was able to start working around the pack house I became more useful staying there.
Harrison pulled right up to the front where there were a number of people waiting for us. He promptly popped out of his side while someone came over and opened the door for me. The group of people began following him to the door calling out replies to the questions he was quickly throwing in their directions.
I’m sure he had a lot that he needed to catch up on, with being away at my pack, but there was a bit of pain in my chest with how rapidly he forgot I was even here.
“Back to work.” Emmett had walked up behind me with such stealth I nearly jumped at his words. “Andy, this is Mrs. Whelan.” He gestured over to an older lady standing off to the side. “She is the head housekeeper. She will show you were your rooms are and assist you with anything you might need. Now, please excuse me, I need to follow the king.”
I turning toward Mrs. Whelan who gave a soft smile as she walked over to me.
“If you would please follow me, I’ll take you to your rooms.” She wore a long black shirt that went down to her ankles, with matching black stockings and black short heeled shoes. There’s a pocket work attached at her waist that clips to the front of her belt, something so old fashioned, but I’m sure comes in quite useful. A white blouse finished off her attire, with a delicate gold chain around her neck. Mrs. Whelan’s salt and pepper hair is pulled back into a tight bun on the top of her head. There was no doubt by her appearance, she takes her job very seriously.
I went to the back of the vehicle to grab my suitcase that Harrison had put in the back for me.
“Don’t worry about your things. One of the footman will bring them to your rooms.” And there was nothing more about it, she whirled around and headed into the castle. I hustled up the front stairs to keep up with her. She is a woman on a mission and not going to let me get her off her schedule.
Her leading me to the room wasn’t really much of a tour. She didn’t point out what any of the rooms were as we passed by them. Some the doors were open and I could catch a quick glance at what was inside before hurrying to return behind her.
I followed Mrs. Whelan around a corner to be met with a large staircase. A deep royal blue carpet covered each step as it made its way up the levels. The far wall of the stairs held gigantic stain glass windows that allowed the sun to pour in natural light and covering the floors with the colored patterns from them.
The stain glass was composed of intricate colors of greens, blues, and browns mainly, all coming together to create a forest filled with trees everywhere. There were even some birds with the images and also a deer. It was alluring, calling you to jump right into the artwork and live out your days in it. I don’t believe I’ve seen anything quite so marvelous.
Mrs. Whelan wasted no time making her way up the stairs and gave a stern clearing of her throat to signal me to keep up. I gave one final peek at the beautiful windows before promptly following behind her.
The corridor we had turned into was rather long, at least it had many windows along it to help it feel more open, but we are quickly making our way to the end of it. Soon, she stops in front of a set of white double doors, before turning around so that her eyes would meet mine.
“These will be your rooms.” She said with a soft smile. I could tell she was kind but takes her work very seriously.
“Thank you.” I replied, as she opened the doors for me and stood to the side to let me walk in first.
A gasp left my mouth as I walked into the space that was declared mine. It was huge and now I can see why she had said rooms, this was not just a bedroom. Walking in, I’m first met with what feels to be like a living room. A large wrap around couch was centered around a coffee table and matched by a single wingback chair opposite it. The furniture gave way to a mini grand piano tucked delicately under a swooping staircase that led to a balcony.
“Your bedroom and bathroom are just up the stairs.” She gestured to the stairs ahead of us. “You have a library to your left, along with a private office that connects to it, if you please. Then, a parlor to your right and a dining room just next to that.”
I have never had anything so lavish in all my life, I’m in complete shock. How could I possibly go from a small attic room to all this?
“The footman will be up shortly with your things and I’ll have your lady’s maids come in to help you get settled.” She had taken a paper from her pocket looking as though she was checking off a to-do list.
“Do you know when I can see Harrison?” I asked, missing the feeling of being around my mate. I was a bit overwhelmed and could use the comfort the mate bond brings along with it.
“The King will call for you when he is available for you. I will have lunch brought up to you and if he isn’t available for dinner, I will do the same for that.” I’m sure seeing the disappointment on my face, she continued. “I know that this must be quite the adjustment for you, Ms. Andrea, but it’ll get better.”
“Just call me Andy. Everyone does.” I responded with a smile.
She smiled back and began to make her way back to the doors to leave, “Well, welcome home, Ms. Andy.”
