CHAPTER 30

CAROLINE'S POV The long green grass under my feet felt damp from the rain. I heard distant laughters, and it belonged to... My Dad I went closer to the laughters and saw Mom and Dad sitting there with...  Me? The little me. They -or should I say, we- were laughing and having sandwiches. I was sitting on dad's lap and he was tickling me. Mom was taking a video of us.  "Tickle, tickle" my Dad said "Daddy! Stop" I said giggling  He carried me and walked around while mom was on the phone. "Dad will we be like this forever" I asked "What do you mean, princess?"  "Will we always go for picnics? Will you always carry me? Will we always be happy?" I asked smiling My dad let out a wholehearted laugh. He put me down and kneeled in front of me. He held my little hands in his large ones. "Caroline, one day everything will change. Everyone will change. I can't always carry you because you'll get bigger. We cant always go for picnics because we'll get busier." he said I pouted and he caressed my cheek. "And we can't always be happy. In life, things happen. And it's not always enjoyable. You'll go through alot. Sadness, anger, envy" he looked in my eyes, "But you! My little princess, you're a strong girl. You can get through all the trouble and you will still be a beautiful, talented, strong girl" he boop my nose. I gave him a a tight hug and he held my little figure in his arms... ... I gasped waking up. That's one hell of a dream. Or should I say, nightmare. I remember that day vividly. It was a very long time ago. We went on a picnic and dad gave me this long speech about life. After that, I thought I was ready to face life. But I definitely wasn't ready. I didn't realise I was crying until I saw my face in the mirror. I closed my eyes and sighed loudly covering my head under the blanket. Someone barged in the room and sat bet to me. "Caroline?" I heard Ivy's voice.  I wiped my face and uncovered myself. "Hey Ivy! Finally, you decided to show up" I rolled my eyes, un-enthusiastically. "Oh come on Caroline. I was just out for a few days" she said  "A few days? You literally disappeared 3 years ago and finally decided to show up for a vacation. And now? You come home after I sleep and leave before I wake up! And I have to cover up everytime to mom when you don't answer. What are you so occupied with that you can't even answer your phone?" I asked her. She sighed deeply. "Hey, hey. I'm sorry okay? I'm sorry! I was just... doing stuff" she said "Stuff? What stuff? Tell me that and I'll forgive you" She squirmed under my calculating gaze. "I... I was just..."  I stood up abruptly  "Until you tell me that don't talk to me" Doing that to Ivy is a little cruel but what she did was undeniably wrong. And I was already in a bad mood because of that dream. I got ready and knocked on Damian's door. After about 5 minutes, he opened it rubbing his eyes, his bare chest showing. "Why are you sleeping for so long?!! We gotta get to school. Go get ready!" I practically sounded like my mom. He rubbed his eyes again a few times and said... "Its 7 am on a Saturday" he said in a groggy voice. My eyes widened. I looked at my phone and face palmed myself. I groaned loudly and went down. It's been a few days, and without the two of them there is basically nothing fun happening. Days went by either like hours or weeks. It's never normal. I didn't want to face Ivy so I decided I'll head to the diner I walked out and it was still pretty cold from winter. I walked as fast as my feet carried me hearing and feeling the snow crunch under my boots. I reached and opened my books out in hopes of getting some education. I don't have my so called bffs to help me now. As I was solving a math question I felt someone's presence in front of me. "Hey!" I heard a familiar voice  Leo The audacity  I ignored him. "Caroline?" He called again. "Caroline!!" He called again After a few more calls he snatched my book away. "Give me my book back, please" I said looking him in the eyes. He sighed "Caroline..."  "Shut the HECK up Leo!! I don't wanna hear it and I want my book back." I said "Just... hear me out" he said " I don't want to 'hear you out' " I quoted on him Luckily there was no one in the diner except the workers. Because I was screaming now. Just as we were continuing out heated argument, Elly and Nick came in the diner. Wait... Nick? When did they start hanging out. Anyway, I didn't care. There were too many people that I didn't want to see right now so I stood up snatching my book from Leo's hand, slinging my bag, and walking out, brushing past Elly, unintentionally, on the way.  ... ELLY'S POV I saw the person that I've been dreading about, after days. I didn't want to see him again, although, I knew I would have to see him eventually since he's in the same school as me. Thankfully he didn't come to school for a few days and I could avoid that awkward encounter with your ex. Unfortunately, he is here and I would have to be in his presence for a while. Nick wanted to join me to study since he was basically failing in Science. We've been hanging out a lot these days. I held Nick by his forearm and pulled him to one of the empty tables. I could see Leo's angry face from the corner of my eye. He has never liked Nick and he definitely doesn't like the fact that I just held him by the arm. It's not me who wanted to break up. He can't tell who I can or can't hang out with. And besides Nick is great company. If he can't stand seeing us together. Then he'll have to suffer.
