Archer Dakota P.O.V The sun was a globe of red and slowly disappearing behind the mountains when I finally finished my pack duty, I stood up and stretch my limbs before walking out of the office. The village was bubbling with lives all around as young pups run around chased by the older ones, and she-wolves stood in groups chatting and giggling about male warriors. I close my eyes as I tried to imagine my mate among them, my eyes were forced open to the sound of my gamma whistle as he walks towards me smiling. "Alpha", he said stretching his neck out in a submissive pose, I nodded at him in acknowledgment. "The beta said you need company for a run", he said chuckling. "Not you Ace, I need my peace", I said as I walk past him and towards the forest "I can be quiet as a mouse", he said hurriedly after me "I'd wonder who you are then because my gamma is as loud as a volcano", I told him before stripping "Not this time around and I was hoping you'd race me, I want to win my way out of patrol on the full moon", he said with a chuckle. "You wish Ace", I told him just before I shifted, I waited for him to shift and we walk into the forest together. It's been a while since I last shifted and my wolf was finally happy to be out, but I don't want to hand over control to him. The mutt prefers to think with he's muscles than sense. I run with Ace wolf until the moon slowly takes its place in the sky, we trotted around the pack and towards our discarded clothes after we finally decided to call it to quit for the day. Ace shifted and changed as he waited for me while I do the same. "I want to go see the healer, wanna come?". I ask after I finished putting on my clothes. "Sure someone needs to gist her about what's been going on around here lately", "the maidens believe the reason Maye wasn't seen outside is that you have her spent during the night that she can't walk on her own", he said with a wink. "I have you run patrol for months without rest if I hear you blab nonsense", I glare at him. He laughed with his hands up in the air chanting ok as he followed me towards my aunty's cabin. Even when I just finished running myself out, I can feel my wolf getting antic as I near the healer's cabin. There is just that annoying feeling nagging me, the kind you get when something is about to happen. I look around me just to make sure everything is alright. I saw a female's silhouette walking into my aunty's cabin as I came into view of it, the female looked too young to be my aunty, and the ghostly look with hair down and around make me question if that is a member of my pack. Most of the females in my pack like to braid their hair, and for some unknown reason, I quicken my pace. I was greeted by a foreign yet familiar scent masked by the usual herb and spices scent of the healer's cabin, my wolf growled and I took a big calming breath before opening the door to the cabin. The moment I stepped inside I froze, my aunty was sitting on her favorite chair in the guest room cleaning a souvenir her late mate had gifted her from a trip to Africa. But that wasn't why my foot has become rooted to the ground, the reason I can't seem to move is because of a familiar scent that has nearly taken away my sanity over the past months I held my breath, too scared to release it just in case it was true. My gamma walks in, passing me and going straight to the healer, I ignore them looking around to pinpoint the owner of that scent, Was it that female I saw earlier, I only scented that addictive wild rose scent once but I can never mistake it for something else. My wolf growled pacing around, mate, my mate is here my wolf growled louder forcing my feet forward, adrenaline is pumping through my vein, and the urge to turn this cabin upside down until I find her took over. I moved toward the corridor that leads to the spear bedroom when I heard my aunty's voice. "Archer, don't", I turned sharply towards her. "You knew", I said feeling betrayal deep within my bone. "You knew she was mine, why didn't you tell me", how long have you known, how long have you hidden her away from me". I fired different questions at her not waiting for any answers Just as I was about to ask another question I heard soft footsteps coming towards the guest room and my breath left me, I stood still waiting for the person to appear. The moment she came into view and lock eyes with me I sulk in a deep breath, you can hear a pin drop as silence descended. She stood there with wide eyes looking at me Her hair is dark, I can't tell what color from where she stood, she's slender but not short nothing a good meal can't fix, she had the height of any healthy wolf 5'10 I think. She look at me before looking at my gamma, I growled not wanting her eyes to leave me. "Come sit down Thyra", my aunty said, waving her over. She slowly walks towards her and as she get closer her scent threatened to consume me whole, I took steps back not wanting to brush my hand or have any form of contact with her body. "Archer, you need to sit too", my aunty said looking toward me. "Sit, you want me to sit, you knew she was my mate and you hide her from me" I heard Ace suck in a breath as I spat the last word out. "Don't take that tone with me pup," my aunt said in a chiding tone "I'm not a pup, I'm an Alpha, I spat out just as my wolf come forward to prove the point by releasing its aural. I watch as Ace flinched and my mate shrink back into her chair, while my aunty just look unfazed. That get my wolf more enraged and I growled at her first slowly then threateningly nonstop. I watch as both my gamma and mate cast their eyes down while my aunty stood defiant against me, looking me straight in the eyes with her sightless ones before she finally relents and looks away. I cast my gaze on my mate one last time before running out of the cabin, I would have shifted just so my wolf can heal our aching heart, but I don't want to risk what he might do in this dare situation if he had that much control.
