"Pfft!"
The thunderous longsword was sheathed, then its tip emerged from the back, dripping blood like an unstoppable faucet.
A yellow-spotted flying tiger with two enormous wings on its back stared in utter shock at the suddenly appearing blade before it, its tiger eyes wide with disbelief!
It had merely flown over a rooftop when, out of nowhere, a thunderous longsword appeared, piercing its chest with perfect accuracy.
It hadn't even had time to react!
It looked as if it had offered its belly to the blade, charging headlong into the chariot!
And as its rapidly dimming pupils faded, the flying tiger was stunned to see the figure before it suddenly raise its hand, releasing an arm-sized bolt of lightning towards the left-hand intersection!
The flying tiger was bewildered, for the left-hand intersection was empty, devoid of anything.
But in the next second, a wisp of gray-black mist suddenly emerged from the intersection!
It was the Ghost Shadow Phantom Horse Clan! In an instant, the Thunder Serpent and the wisp of gray-black mist collided. The entire process was perfectly timed, not a second faster or slower!
"Crackling, boom!"
The Ghostly Phantom Horse was reduced to charred remains, and the gray-black mist that had been corroding the brick wall vanished instantly.
Chu Yun Sheng wiped the sweat from his brow, panting heavily.
Around them, a squad of Flying Tiger Clan and Ghostly Phantom Horse Clan soldiers lay dead, their bodies reduced to corpses.
Taking advantage of the real-time map, Chu Yun Sheng eliminated two more squads of soldiers.
[Killed 2 Tier 2 enemies, 10 Tier 1 enemies, gained 20 cultivation points!]
[Congratulations on advancing to the mid-Tier 2!] [Host: Chu Yunsheng]
[Realm: Mid-Second Stage]
[Cultivation Points Required to Advance to Late Second Stage: 4/40]
Having killed two squads of soldiers, Chu Yunsheng was almost completely exhausted, his abilities and strength nearly depleted.
But as the white orbs drilled, the powerful energy returned, and Chu Yunsheng quickly recovered, returning to his peak condition.
However, Chu Yunsheng wasn't particularly pleased with himself; instead, he frowned as he looked around.
Before, the North District could occasionally be heard to hear sounds of resistance and explosions.
But now, all around was quiet; there was no sound at all.
Chu Yunsheng looked at the mini-map. In the blink of an eye, only his small blue dot remained in the entire North District!
A large number of red dots clustered in the city center, east, and west, sweeping southwards!
Watching the small blue dots disappear rapidly on the real-time map, Chu Yunsheng couldn't help but feel anxious.
Chu Yun Sheng looked at the southern part of the city on the minimap, where several huge blue dots appeared out of thin air every now and then.
On the minimap, the stronger the expert, the larger the dot.
By comparison, it was clear that these experts who had come to support from Earth were at least fifth or sixth-tier experts, and some were even seventh-tier grandmasters!
Watching the constantly appearing blue dots, Chu Yun Sheng felt slightly reassured. It seemed this was the "other arrangement" that Battalion Commander Zheng Zhigang had mentioned before his death.
Suddenly, the sky above darkened, plunging into darkness.
Chu Yun Sheng looked up and saw the two enormous suns hanging overhead rapidly dimming, like a total solar eclipse, their light vanishing in an instant!
In less than a few seconds, the two suns abruptly went out, and a silver disc lit up, hanging high in the sky!
Countless stars twinkled brilliantly all around!
Night had fallen!
The Battlefield of Ten Thousand Races is a unique place. Unlike Earth, where the suns set slowly, at 6 PM, both suns abruptly disappeared, replaced by a new moon.
Moreover, both the suns and the moon are enormous, three or four times larger than they would be on Earth, making it feel like being in outer space.
Scientists from the Dragon Kingdom have suggested that the other alien races appearing in the Battlefield of Ten Thousand Races might originate from other planets in outer space.
Chu Yun Sheng gazed at the starry sky for a few moments, then vanished into the night, continuing his hunt.
...
...
"Damn, the frontline troops are having a blast! They're making a name for themselves up front, while we're stuck in the back scavenging for scraps!"
"No way, I love staying in the back. Safe and comfortable!"
"Me too! You don't know how tough it is to take down those human heroes guarding here. We've already lost several vanguard units!"
"Exactly! Once you're dead, you lose everything. Come on, let's drink!"
"..."
Night fell, and the entire northern district fell silent. Only in the city center and the southern area did the fighting continue, with artillery shells booming and illuminating half the night sky.
A group of alien squad leaders and centurions were gathered together, happily drinking and eating heartily, their food dripping with oil.
Upon closer inspection, one of their plates held a dripping human head—a gruesome and nauseating sight!
Halfway through their meal, a werewolf centurion, wraith of ghosts, suddenly looked suspiciously at the building behind him.
In the still of the night, the buildings, shrouded in darkness, suddenly appeared strangely eerie.
"Patrolling for so long? Kui Zang and the others still haven't returned?"
"Ugh!" A massive centurion, nearly the size of a bungalow, said impatiently.
"We finally conquered this iron city. Isn't it normal for the soldiers below to be a little greedy and playful? Enjoy your drinks, don't be such a spoilsport!"
As the giant bear spoke, its fan-like paws grabbed a human head from a plate and shoved it into its gaping maw.
With a bite of its menacing fangs, splattered brain matter!
The centurion, a bear-like creature, spread his index finger wide, his eyes narrowed in bliss, and cleaned the nameless creature beside him, clicking his tongue in admiration:
"I must say, on this battlefield of ten thousand races, the taste of humans ranks in the top three!"
"It's said that humans and children taste even sweeter. When I conquer Earth, I'll eat ten of them at every meal!"
The surrounding alien races chuckled. They too had heard that Earth was a wonderful place, with beautiful mountains and clear waters, and plenty of food. Just thinking about it made their mouths water!
The group of aliens drank until the moon was high in the sky, until they were so drunk they could barely stand. Only then did a centurion strike the gong beside him and blow the whistle to signal assembly.
Soon, in the night, small squads of soldiers of various shapes and sizes emerged sparsely from the darkness.
Some were still sleepy-eyed, some had bloated bellies stained with food, and some were constantly burping, their faces beaming with happiness.
However, as the ranks lined up, leaving several gaps in the middle, the alien squad leaders and centurions began to sense something was amiss!
“Kuimu, why haven’t your 23rd and 24th squads returned yet?”
“Xiong, your 8th, 9th, and 10th squads haven’t returned either!”
Suddenly, the previously tipsy aliens sobered up considerably!
“Sound the assembly gong again!” a centurion barked.
“Yes, sir!”
“Clang clang clang…”
They waited for a while longer.
But the buildings in the darkness remained silent, without a sound.
The normally unremarkable buildings now seemed to transform into ancient, life-devouring monsters!
The aliens looked up at the pitch-black northern district, a chill creeping over them.
