Chapter Five: Curious Bee

1001 Words
While Luc was preparing to shout at his secretary for coming late, Kisha was seen running around her apartment by 5:00 am. "I overslept", she slid and fell down, "ouch!" Her bag had been packed and breakfast was steaming on fire. As if she had known, she wanted to prove her boss wrong. By 6:47 am, Kisha took two steps into the building, revealing her modest dress code and heels on the tiles, she got the attention of her ex-colleagues. She didn't care to look at them or stand to explain anything but rather, waved at the one she used to talk with and climbed up to her boss’ office. Well, the cleaners are always keeping on time. So, everywhere was neat and clean, apart from the desk Luc scattered and was to be arranged by… “obviously… his secretary”, she thought to herself and waved it off with a light laugh. A few minutes later, Kisha had finished everything and there was no room for confusion as she had done a lot of research on her own. Three minutes past the hour of eight, Luc walked in with his briefcase. “Bullseye”, Kisha said with two of her fingers pointing at her boss as though she just shot him with a gun and added, “You are late. Good morning, sir” At first that surprised Luc because she came earlier than he expected, she looks playful; another resemblance of Ivy, she did even fear him and she had kept everywhere neat before his arrival. “Good morning, Kisha Morel, right?” He responded and asked, faking to forget the name he sang throughout the night. “Yes, sir”, Kisha confirmed. “Okay, Let's get to work. Since you are a little bit new here, I'll show you a list of what we'll be doing today while you will have to plan it alone from tomorrow. First, we have an appointment with Dr. Williams, hope you're ready to fly at any time”. “Yes, I am”. “There is your seat. Tell her, whenever you need anything to help you with your job”, he pointed at a lady who served as a security, kind of. As Kisha looked through the list of activities for the day, Luc's attention was divided as his eyes were fixed on the lavender-scented candles by Kisha’s window. His gaze was on her dress, “she looks so sweet. A modest beautiful lady. Oh God, hope I'm safe”, he murmured. From her silver heels to her round legs and straight blue office wear. Kisha was concentrating. A vibration from his phone kept him alert again and thank God, Kisha almost noticed. “We are leaving in the next fifteen minutes”, he said to her. They both prepared and headed to the airport. Kisha has not flown since she was born but she maintained herself in order not to disgrace her boss. “Make sure you greet the men on white alone”, Luc informed her, “our business is with them and most of them might have an eye for you”, his voice reduced drastically. He didn't want her to hear that part but she did and also did like she didn't. The affluence in the white big office almost left Kisha's mouth wide open but she loved her job well enough. They both stepped into the place and also drew attention to themselves; one Luc has never had alone. He knew Kisha was beautiful and he enjoyed the respect people showed him as though he was her husband, even with exchanging a word with them. Kisha thought it was just normal for him but she did not know how happy she made him be. The meeting successfully came to an end after thorough debates and discussions. It was time to head home and they drove home, this time around. “Thank you very much for today”, he said to her. “It's okay, sir. I'm always at your service. I'm glad I did my job well”, she responded with a smile that unknowingly pierced him. They got to a junction and Kisha requested to alight because her house was not too far from there. Luc’s eyes were fixed on her as the car swiftly wheeled away. The driver noticed it but did not say a word. A man who had once loved understood that his boss had just fallen in love with his secretary. Kisha reached home, opened her door, and immediately dragged the gown off herself. “Phew, Today was a beautiful one. Heh heh, you did it girl!” She cheered herself for doing well on her first day at work and turned the tap on for the water to fill the bathtub. She wanted to line her short lavender candles by the side and sink into the water just for a little while. And that she did. She had her dinner after that, arranged and planned herself for the next day's job, and retired to a good sleep. Over here at Luc's house, overthinking takes the bigger part of his night and instead of resting, he begins to do more research about Kisha Morel. “We dropped her at Viley junction. Could her house be on the street beside the mall or by Billi’s street?” He asked himself and confusingly scratched his itchy scalp. One thing is sure. Kisha was born in the month of April, not the same as late Ivy but surely turning twenty while Luc will be turning twenty-two. He had framed the passport into a bigger picture and hung it on his wall, in his room where he would always look at it before going to bed. That night, he was tired of the little information he dug out about Kisha, went to his bed, stared at Ivy's framed picture, and fell deeply asleep.
