Lonely on this side

Willa The beautiful feel of the Bobby Smith love blues felt like no other. After years of what seemed like a plastic affair, I finally found love. The desire in his eyes after our passion dance last night, the burning passion he exhumed even as he wrapped himself around me, it was the first time the s*x felt different. Almost like he made love to me for the first time. Taking the cue to express my feelings felt like a stupid idea but it paid off. “Damn! He’s back!” I run upstairs quickly to get dressed I’m the hot red night dress I bought at the mall. The sales attendant said it helps to keep your lover’s attention on you and truly there is nothing I want more than that. “Hi, bab…” His pale and damp expression shut my body off its excitement. Why does he look like he saw a ghost? Maybe work took another turn today. “Hi, Willa.” He muttered, his gaze still glued to the tiles. “You…don’t look so good.” “I do…” he feigned a smile. Is he trying to deceive me? I can literally see through him. “Fine…I made dinner.” “That’s gonna have to wait for now… we need to talk, Willa.” Beads of sweat formed on his face but its so cold? Pushing off the pillow, I sat beside him. “What’s it?” He placed his palms over mine. I can literally see through him, he’s trying to hide his true feelings. “She’s back!” “Who?” “Vivian….she called today…and..” “Wait! The same Vivian?” He nodded in response. My heart sank, I knew it was stupid to confess my feelings. He reached for the breast pocket of his suit pulling out a file. “Here’s a divorce paper as agreed. Remember our deal before…the marriage…if…” “If she returns…we go our separate ways…I remember very well!” I snatch the divorce papers from him, stretching my hand for a pen from him which he quickly supplied. I can’t believe it’s happening but I should have known, it’s a common men trait- users! “Here’s a check of one million dollars… I know it wouldn’t be enough to pay for…” “It will be just fine!” I snatch the cheque from him. It’s no use acting sorry after breaking such a heavy bomb shell. “I’m gonna need some days to pack my things.” His face parted a smirk, is he mocking me? “How long?” “One week!” His face concocted a question mark. I know everything I brought into this damn mansion and despite being a millionaire he would feel it. I promise. “Fine! I’ll be back on Sunday, you can leave the key with the housekeeper….I’m sorry again.” He patted my thighs before storming out with the divorce papers. Hearing his car drive off was the cue I needed to let go of the wells of tears that filled my eyes. “It…hurts…” Damian Hearing Vivian’s call was the game changer for me. Her mild voice over the phone. I picked my car keys running to her at the airport. She stood at the departure exit, spreading her arms to receive me. It felt different after three years but seeing her back to me confirmed what I affirmed daily ‘she would return to me’. I drove her to one of my family’s penthouse. “So what happened?” I asked but her response was in her breaking down in tears, I took the cue to just comfort her in my arms. The minutes I spent with her Willa brushed past my mind but it only reminded me of the deal we had years ago. “You need money for your dad’s company, I need to get married to access my father’s inheritance…we could strike a deal.” I branched the office to pick the already drafted divorce papers. Her red night gown and revealing curves nearly dissuaded my plans but I can’t forget my aim. After the previous night intensity, I felt we were on another level but seeing her swiftly sign the divorce papers like she had been waiting broke me slightly. Her hardness was tearing me down. Driving away from the mansion knowing that I wouldn’t have her blue eyes and aquiline nose welcoming whenever I returned. It’s best to focus my attention to my Vivian, she’s back to me. “Vivian what did you use three hundred thousand dollars for?!” My account officer just called to report the debit. Spending the week in the pent house with Vivian but every second exposed my emptiness. “Is that why you’re yelling? I remember I was in a relationship with a rich man…so what’s the fuss about…some dollars?” She scoffed, rolling her eyes and returning to watching her tv show. “Some dollars? Vivian that’s my hard earned money and…it’s the fifth time this week…why?” My eyes pricked gently with tears. Maybe I made a mistake but then, it’s the usual Vivian way. “Come on, Dammy…” she tugged at me pulling me to the bed with her face smooshing on his. I just left a sexually contracted marriage not to return to another. “I need to go…” I shrug her off, bolting into my car. My last magical night with Willa was intense. So much emotional truth, the weight of truly breaking a heart just hit. Increasing the speed in which I drove to the mansion, swerving in front of the house and jumping out even before the car halted. Running into the house, the darkness was first to welcome me. Turning on the light to meet the greatest shocker. The empty shelves, void of her hand picked antiques; the chairs without her usual teddy bears, her fuzzy rug, the portraits, it felt so…..empty. The transition from a home to an empty house. It’s just Friday, I gave her till Sunday. Was she in a hurry to leave? “Welcome sir.” Laura my housekeeper greeted. “Where’s my wif…Willa?” I corrected. “Sir…she just left some minutes ago.” My heart leapt for the hope of seeing her again. “To where! Where?!” “I don’t know…but she spoke about…a flight to New York .” I sped off, driving the fastest I’ve driven in my life. How stupid could I have been? Ignoring the waving airport officials and parking at the no parking zone, I ran into the airport. Running to the counter. “The flight to…New York?” “Oh! It’s leaving in less than two minutes.” “Let me in!” Her sluggish attitudes was repellent to my eagerness. Lifting the restricting rope and running over the barriers. “Willa!”
