Chapter 9

1210 Words
(Rose) As I start to fall asleep, I’m looking at the book from the library. I’m focused on the picture of the white wolf. This wolf looks so majestic. She is such a beauty. I started to think about my dream and the white wolf in it. Why does the moon goddess’s special wolf look so much like the one in the book? Lilly was her name and she was magical. She is a part of the goddess. Why did the moon goddess visit me? Me of all people? I don’t even have a wolf, so why would she bless me with her presence? The moon goddess has always been a mystery to me; how some magical being created us is beyond my comprehension. Growing up we always heard about how the moon goddess created us for a purpose. But the purpose was never explained, just that we were of value to her. We just knew that there were other supernatural beings in the world. We were taught at a young age to be able to protect our pack and to defend ourselves if it was necessary. Thinking about the goddess and her sister. The book said that they had a disagreement. All families have disagreements, but they don’t start a war over it. I wonder if they ever made amends with each other, or are they still feuding to this day. If I dream of her tonight, I have questions for her. I start to drift off, and I’m sucked into a fog. As the fog lightens up, I realize that I’m in the same area I was before with the goddess. I look around and I see nothing. It's just a vacant space of nothingness. I hear a sound and look to see the white wolf. Lilly and her electric green eyes are watching me. She is something magical and frightening all at the same time. As I’m watching Lilly I’m mesmerized by her fur and how it glistens in the light. “Hello Rose,” I hear from behind me. I turned to see the goddess. "Hello Selene," I say to her and bow slightly to show her my respect. She smiles at me. “Rose, there is no need for you to bow to me. We are equals in a way.” She tells me. "Equals? There is no way I am even close to your level," I tell her. She just smiles and shakes her head at me. “I’ve been watching you. It's very wise of you to ask the Alphas to help with some research for you. However, I do not believe that you will find all the answers you are looking for. To get all the answers you are wanting you will have to look deeper into yourself and find out who you are. Who you truly are.” She tells me. "I’m just a human who was raised in a wolf pack. I don’t know why I was found in the woods as a baby. I don’t know why the Alpha thinks I belong here. Or why does anyone think that I may have a mate? I am not a werewolf I am just a human. A plain simple human. Nothing special." I say to her. At the end of my short rant, I notice that Lilly is getting closer to Selene and I. She is whining softly at the goddess’s feet. She keeps looking from the goddess to me. The goddess has a far away look on her face. I think she must be communicating with Lilly. Lilly walks over to me and sits at my feet looking at me. I look from her to Selene. "What is she doing?" I ask Selene. She just giggles and looks at me. “It would seem my Lilly wants to talk to you?” Selene tells me. "Talk to me? How is she going to talk to me?" I ask. “What do your instincts tell you to do?” the goddess asks me. "My instincts are confused," I tell her. I look down at Lilly, I feel that connection and pull towards her again. I don’t think and I just reach out to touch her. As my hand touches her head, I feel the same sparks as last time. Then in my head I hear a soft voice. “Hello Rose.” I hear and I look to Selene. “Not me,” she says. So I look down at Lilly. And she is looking up at me. “As I said before, she is an exceptional wolf. Lilly has her own set of powers and gifts that she can use,” Selene tells me. I look down at the magnificent wolf that is sitting at my feet, letting me pet her large head. "Well hello Lilly, it is nice to meet you." The wolf makes a sound, almost like she is purring. I suppose she likes the petting. She looks up at me and her tongue hangs out of her mouth. I giggle. These large wild animals are so much like common house dogs. “Rose, you are not just a human. You are so special. You and I will do remarkable things. We are meant to be. I want you to realize your potential and greatness," Lilly tells me. I looked at her shocked. It is so strange to hear another person or being in this case, in your head. But what she says is even more alarming. I’m special? Am I meant to do some extraordinary things? How is a simple human being able to do such things? “I can hear all of your thoughts Rose, and in time you will get all the answers that you are looking for. But for now I think it is time to let you rest. We have had you here long enough. It is time to send you back. But don’t worry we will talk again soon, and I will answer some questions rather than create more for you,” Selene says to me. "Send me back?" I ask Selene. She nods her head. “Well yes, this is the in between, the space between you and me. This space is void and empty. This area is the safest spot for me to meet you.” Selene answers me. I look down at Lilly. She looks up at me and licks my hand. I giggle. “My Rose, it is so pleasant to see you and I am already anticipating our next meeting,” Lilly says to me. And then I start to feel funny and my eyes start to close. When I open them, I am back in my bed, the book I was reading before bed is sitting on the pillow next to me. When I look at the page that is open, I am shocked at what is looking at me. On the page in front of me is the white wolf standing in front of thousands of partially-shifted wolves. And in front of them appears to be an army of vampires. The title though is what is most shocking. 'The war of a lifetime. It will change everything that we know. Change will come to all.'
