PARIS @ 13Y/O
She was walking down the hallway on the way to her next class.
She was the last one to leave the room and her classmates are already way ahead of her.
This is their set-up everyday. They have different rooms for each subject.
Jane and Lisa were absent so she was alone. It’s not that she does not have other friends, she just don’t feel like having company today.
She’ll soon be in high school. Soon she will be on the same building with Justin. Though that will only be for a few years because Justin will soon be leaving for college.
She went to the rest room first before proceeding the next class, she’s going to passed by it anyway.
She was just about to leave the cubicle when she heard Justin’s name being mentioned by the two girls who came in after her.
“Oh my god! Justin’s got everything! He is so smart and so hot.” Girl A
“And very single.” Girl B laughed
“Yeah. Though I always see him with that girl in first year.”
“They’re just friends. It’s not like he’s gonna go for someone like that.”
“But she is beautiful! And she’s the only one he hangs out with.”
“What I meant was, he’s not gonna go for someone that young.”
“Oh right. But they’re really close.”
“Come on! He’s hot and he’ll soon be in college. Do you think he’s not getting some?”
“You’re right, I guess. But…anyway, he’s still a man. And if he asks me some, I’ll surely give him some!”
Their voices fading away as they leave the rest room.
I was thinking too hard about what they said that my brows almost meet.
I washed my hands and stared at my reflection in the mirror.
I am now thirteen so I get what they were saying. I’m not that ignorant.
But Justin is now sixteen….
Most boys his age have already gone through few exes and been “getting some” as they say.
I still feel the same about Justin, if not more. It’s like my feelings for him just got stronger as time passed by.
The only time he opened up about his feelings for me was when I was ten, I was practically a baby then!
He never changed his affection towards me but he never really asked me out or anything. I am already thirteen and my friends already have boyfriends.
I have never heard of Justin having a girlfriend or even going out with other girls. He always hangs out with his friends at school or with me and our childhood gang. Never with another girl.
AFTER SCHOOL
Tonight I will ask Justin to be my boyfriend.
I was in deep thought planning how to go about it when I heard him call out my name.
He was standing by the gate. Waving. With a big smile on his face.
I smiled back and ran towards him.
“Hey.”
“I want to show you something.” Justin said. He then grabbed my hand and pulled me outside.
I just followed his lead. I bit my lower lip, looking at his hand holding my hand. I should be used to this but each time he holds my hand my heart skips a beat and butterflies flutter in my stomach.
We stopped beside a brand-new blue pick-up truck.
I looked at him questioningly.
He was still smiling from ear to ear. His hands moved to my shoulders as he turned me to face him.
“It’s a late gift from mom and dad for my sixteenth birthday.”
“Wow! It’s a beauty!” I wiped my hand across the shiny hood of the truck.
“Come on, I want you to be the first one to sit on that passenger seat.” My heart did a tumbling. He winked before opening the passenger door for me.
I laughed at his antics. And deep inside I feel more fluttering in my stomach.
“Where are we going?”
“Anywhere. Wherever this truck will take us.”
“How about home?” I teased.
“How about if I take you to the hilltop?” He replied as he started the car.
“But that’s an hour away. I—“
“Don’t worry, I already asked your parents.”
“Oh okay then.” Is this a date?!
AT THE HILLTOP
“Wow! It’s so beautiful here.” We are now sitting at the back of his truck, watching the city lights at a distance.
“That’s why I love coming here. You look up and there’s the moon and the stars. You look down and there’s a play of city lights.” Justin replied as he leaned back and stared at the sky above us.
“It’s like the best of both worlds.” Right at this moment, I’m feeling an overwhelming love. For this moment and for the man. I was looking at the view in awe. It’s so beautiful up here. I smiled as I continue appreciate the surroundings.
I turned to look at Justin only to catch him already looking at me. I smiled wider. I raised my eyebrow at him, getting ready to tease him.
“You are so beautiful.” He murmured. He was looking at her with a wistful expression on his face. His eyes glistening with unexpressed emotions.
Oh my God! Why is he being so sweet? I don’t know how to respond when he is like this!
“This place you mean?” I replied teasingly. “Yeah. It’s perfect.” I smiled meaningfully. Too happy and too shy to say anything.
