“How are you feeling?”
“Better. The meds helped.”
“Good. Then let’s go back. I’ll drive. You’re still not fully recovered, but… this madness has to end,” I said, placing the tea I’d made for him on the kitchen counter with a sharp clink.
Silas raised an eyebrow, his piercing gaze locking onto me. “Is it really so unbearable? Being here with me?”
“It is,” I snapped, the tension in my chest spilling into my voice. “And yes, it’s my fault. I don’t even know why I let it get this far. If I could go back to that moment, I’d undo it all. I’d never have made that stupid mistake—proposing to you just to get back at James.”
