“I’ve already got my first project,” Silas said, his voice buzzing with excitement.
He looked so genuinely happy, his dark eyes sparkling in a way that softened his sharp features. He had recently landed a prestigious job at a well-known architecture firm, and everything seemed to be going perfectly for him. Despite his initial reluctance, he had even agreed to my request to hold off on moving in together. I needed time, I’d said, and though it frustrated him, he respected my need for space. For now, we were still living in separate homes, seeing each other regularly but not constantly.
Seeing him like this—animated, passionate, the weight he often carried seeming lighter—should have made me happy. And on the surface, it did. But deep down, an unsettling voice whispered doubt
