“Where did this decision even come from?” I finally broke the silence, my voice sharper than I intended.
With my parents now in the house, I had no choice but to share a room with Silas. The thought alone set my nerves on edge. I didn’t want to be here, didn’t want to face the charged tension between us. Yet, here I was, cornered in this room with him.
“Weren’t you the one who said I had everything handed to me? That the only reason I wanted you was because I couldn’t have you?”
His words were cutting, but it wasn’t the words that shook me—it was the way he looked at me. His gaze burned, steady and relentless, stripping away my defenses.
The alcohol in my veins made it worse. I wasn’t drunk, but the edges of my thoughts were hazy, my inhibitions blurred.
