I had thought we could fix things. I had convinced myself that one night—one moment of giving in—would be enough to bring us back to where we were before. That, after everything, we could just be us again.
But I was wrong. Silas wasn’t the same.
Ever since Chris had forced his way back into our lives, something inside him had shifted. At first, I had told myself he was dealing with things in his own way.
