Chapter 8: Brian's Birthday

A week passed and we didn’t feel Adele, as in nothing, maybe this would be the end of everything, I mean, the end of her abusive and possessive love to Brian.
I was looking outside the window when someone called me.
"Hey, Avery." I was surprised to see Adele and she was approaching me.
"H-hey." I saw Lia behind her and said,
"What is it now, Adele?"
"I just want to say, I am sorry, I know, I am really the bad b***h here, I wanna end this war that I've started." She looked at me and held out her hand.
I reached out her hand and said,
"I hope you're telling the truth."
"Yes, I am. I already regret what I did to you, I hope you believe me this time."
"Oh, okay." Lia said, I saw that Brian and James were also approaching.
"What are you doing here Adele?" Brian asked Adele.
"Easy, Brian, I just wanted to say sorry and end this s**t that I did."
"I am okay, Brian. You don't need to worry." I said and I walked out of the room.
Brian followed me, "Avery, wait."
Brian and I went to the swimming pool area.
"Brian, I think, we can give Adele a try, don't you think?"
"I don't know, Ave. I really can't trust her."
"Please, let's give it a try." I looked at him and hugged him.
"Please."
"Ugh, Avery, you're such a brat." Brian laughed and messed up my hair.
"Hey! Don't do that, I hate it!" I laughed.
"Anyways, thank you. Let's invite her to your birthday party?"
"I can't say no to you, Avery, you knew that, but I'll still keep an eye on her." Then he kissed my nose
"Yey! Thank you!" I stand up and sing,
"Two days to go, Brian's birthday party!!!"
"Ave, stop it, you look like a child." Brian laughed and he chased after me.
-- Two days later, finally it's Brian's Birthday!
"Mom? Dad? Do you think I look better in this dress?"
"Of course, you look so hot." Mom said and she winked at me.
I smiled at her and looked at dad, "Dad, why aren't you looking?"
I saw him wipe his eyes.
"I just can't imagine, my baby girl is now going to party without daddy." Then he laughed.
"Uh, dad. You know that I will always be your one and only baby girl." I hugged him.
"So, what do you think? Do I look pretty?" Then, I turned around.
"Of course, you are beautiful."
(Car horns)
"I think that's Lia." Mom said.
"May I?" Dad took my hand and supported me down the stairs.
"Thanks, dad and mom. I love you both."
I went out of the house and saw Lia who was already inside of the car waiting for me.
"Oh, look at this beautiful girl!"
"Don't mention it." I jokingly said.
"Avery!!! Wait, your gift!!" I saw mom running towards me.
"Oh, thanks, mom. I almost forgot."
Finally, we arrived at Brian's Birthday party.
"Name, please." The guard asked us.
"Avery Lim."
"Lia Johnson."
Then, James saw us.
"Hey, those are VIP's, come in." He said to the guard.
"I'm sorry, ma'am." The guard said.
I just smiled and said, "Thank you." Then we walked inside the room.
I was amazed by the party's decorations, it's sophisticated and all I can say is "Wow, this is beautiful."
"I know right, I've never been to a party like this." Lia said.
"Hey, ladies, you haven't tasted the wine yet, that will definitely amaze you more."
"A wine?" I said.
"Yes, a wine, it was Brian's wine, he was one who did it." James said, then a waiter came to us with a wine and gave us some.
"Oh, my, this is perfect!" Lia said.
"I don't know what to say, Brian is really great at almost everything." I said, I look around to look for Brian, but I can't see him.
"James, where's Brian?" I can't help myself to stop asking.
"Oh, he's probably with his sister, just hanging around with their clients." James said.
"Avery!" I turned around and saw Adele.
"H-hey." I smiled at her.
"Thank you for pushing Brian to invite me here."
"You're welcome."
She smiled at me and hugged me, "I'll see you around."
Lia looked at me and said, "You really did that?" I nod.
"Come on, Ave, we don't know what else she thinks, maybe this is all drama, that kind of girl will never change."
"Lia, I know, but let's give her a second chance."
"Whatever, Ave. You know that I love you, so I trust you with your decision, I just really hope she will not hurt you."
"Thank you." I hugged Lia.
"Hey, there he is." James pointed out to Brian.
Brian walked towards us with his sister.
"Hi, Ave." Brian held my hand. "This is my elder sister, Brianna and this is Avery."
"Hi, nice meeting you." Brianna said.
I was stunned by Brianna's beauty, she looks like a goddess.
"Lia, this is Brianna." Brian said.
"Hi, nice meeting you." Then she looked at me and said, "You know what Avery, Brian talked a lot about you, I think he is really in love with you."
"T-thank you, by the way, you are gorgeous." I said.
She laughed and said, "It runs in our blood honey, every girl has its own unique beauty."
"Anyways, enjoy the party, Brian and James, take care of these ladies I'll be back okay?" Brianna said and she left.
"She is gorgeous, she looks like a model." Lia said.
"Babe, close your mouth, you are still the most beautiful woman in the whole world for me." James said and held Lia's hand.
"So, you two have your own night, we'll see you later, okay?" James said.
"Hey, Brian, before we leave Avery would like to give you those." Lia pointed out my gift then she laughed.
"Lia, no." I said and then they left.
"Is that for me?" Brian said and he smirked at me.
"Y-yes, but, that's not really expensive just like your other friend's gift."
"Hey, your gift is the most expensive gift that I will ever receive, let me see it." Brian grabbed the box and he opened it.
"Did you bake it?" He asked.
"Yes, I am sorry, that's the only ---" He cut me off and said, "I really appreciate it, you know what, cookies are my favorite, can I taste it?"
I smiled at him and said, "Of course, I hope you will like it."
Brian ate one cookie and said, "I love it, can you please bake more cookies for me?------
