Chapter 3: Brian Mendoza, Mafia?
*Incoming call from unknown number.
"Hello? Who's this?"
"Hi."
The voice sounds so familiar. Oh, no. Is this?
"B-brian? How did you--?"
"I have my ways, Ms. Avery Lim. I told you, once you agree to be friends with me, there's no easy way out."
This guy really drives me crazy.
I laughed at him. "I know, but it's almost two hours since the last time we talked."
"I know. But, I can't get you out of my head."
*Knocking on my door.
"Avery, come on, let's eat."
"Yes, dad."
"I'm sorry about this."
*Call ended
"Avery."
"I'll be there, dad."
---- Next day.
I am just sitting on the couch just thanking God, finally it is Saturday and finally, no classes for today and I survived my roller coaster first week in school.
"Ave's?"
"Oh, Lia, what's up?"
"Pack your things up, bring your bikini as well." then Lia winked at me.
"What? Wait. I'm confused."
"Just go with me, I already asked your dad and he approved it, as long as you're with me."
"Avery, go ahead. Have some fun, I don't want you to feel homesick or what. Just have some fun and take care."
I jumped out of the couch and hugged Dad.
"Thanks, dad. You're the best" I whispered.
Lia and I went to my room, she helped me pack my things.
"Lia, why is this kinda urgent?"
She just smiled at me and her phone rang.
"Hello, James? Yeah, we'll be there in about 20 minutes. I am helping her to pack her things."
*Call ended.
I look at Lia. "Is that James?"
She just smiled.
"Don't tell me you're a team now?"
"You know what, I am so thankful that you're finally here. Just to be honest, I have a crush on James and thanks to you, you helped me to be near him, you know, building some communications."
"Really? You know what, Lia, I am really thinking if Brian is a Mafia Boss?"
"I don't think so. I was just kidding at that time about him being a mafia boss, but the untouchable thing is true."
"You got me there. But, seriously, there is something, I can't explain."
"What? Is it because he was bald on the first day? Just wait and see, he's more cute and handsome with his hair."

"Finally, you're here."
I hear James behind me. I looked around to see where is Brian.
"Looking for Brian?" James asked.
"He's inside the cruise ship."
I was mesmerized by the ship, it was so big that it looked like the Titanic ship. I was so busy looking at the ship that I didn't notice Brian was beside me.
"Do you like it?" Brian asked.
I looked at him and said, "Yeah, is this your ship? I observed and saw that it was named after you."
"You always amazed me, yes, it is my ship."
Lia and James were already on the ship.
"Hey, lovebirds. Come on!" James shouted.
"Yeah, we're coming!" Brian held my hand and we went to the ship.
---- Meanwhile.
James and Lia we're having fun at the cruise ship. This is the first time again that I saw Lia have fun and so much happiness.
"Hey, guys, let's eat first." Brian said.
Lia, James and I were just waiting for the food to be served. By the way, Brian cooked dinner.
"Let's eat." James.
While eating I can't resist asking Brian where we are really going.
"Brian, where are we really going? I don't have any idea."
Lia just winked at me, "Just trust him, us."
"So, you're on their team now? What is it really up to?" I looked at them.
Brian just smirks at me. "You don't need to worry, I am with you."
"That's right!" James.
Two hours later. The cruise ship stopped, I think we are here.
"Finally, it's been a while." James said.
"Wow, this is beautiful." Lia
"Thanks, this is my family's beach house." Brian
Brian looked at me. "Are you okay?"
"Y-yes, I am just amazed. It made me so happy, because my Mom and I used to go to the beach and bond."
"You just miss her. Soon, you will see her. I promise." Then, Brian held my hand and we went inside.

Lia and I will be sharing the same room.
"Lia, I am not sure about this."
"About what? May I see?"
She looked at me, "You're absolutely stunning, there's nothing you need to bother, you wore bikinis before right?"
"Yeah, but--"
"Come on, here, I bought you a swimsuit lace cover-up, but, trust me you are stunning, I bet, Brian would drop his jaw all the way down."
I just sigh, "Thanks, Lia, I really don't know what to do without you. You're the best of the best." Then I hugged her.
"No worries, I got you and you are always welcome."

The sound of the waves calms me down, I don't know why I am nervous, it's not the first time that I wear this kind of clothes.
"Oh, man. Here they come." James.
"H-hi." I said to Brian.
Brian was just staring at me.
"I told you, Avery. He will be stunned by your beauty." Lia whispered to me.
"Shut-up, Lia." I whispered back to her.
"Bro? Are you okay? Did someone mesmerize you?" James chuckled.
"Avery, you are beautiful." Brian smiled at me.
"Thanks." I smirked at him.
"So, come on? Let's enjoy it!" Lia.
Lia and I were just sunbathing while Brian and James did some surfing.
"Lia, thanks for this. I badly needed a break from the first bloody week of school work."
"Of course, you're always welcome. By the way, do you really think Brian is some kind of Mafia or something?"
"I don't know. But, the day that we have our first date? I guess. He told me, there would be no easy way out if I really wanted to be friends with him. He even called me, I don't know where he got my number."
"Hmm, kinda suspicious, but, let's just observe them."
"Yeah, but, I don't think they are Mafia, maybe it's just our first impression since you said that they are untouchable."
"Yeah, I guess so."
"Lia, come here. I'll teach you some surfing." James held Lia's hand.
"Avery, let's try thee jetski." Brian.
"Sure."

It's already midnight but I can't sleep. Lia is already snoring in bed, she's so tired about the surfing lessons, but I know she loves it.
*One message received.
From: Brian
Why are you not sleeping yet? Is there something wrong?
How did he know I'm not sleeping yet?
I replied,
I don't know, maybe I'm just overthinking about nothing.
Overthinking, about what? Why don't we have a walk right now, let's talk about it.
He's flashing his cell phone flashlight at our balcony's room and I went down to look for him.
"Hey, I'm here." Brian.
"Hi." I smiled.
"Come on, let's go to the seaside."
I am looking at Brian and it seems like he's stressed about something.
"So, what bothers you?" I looked at him.
"Ah, I guess, it's not that too important." Then I smirked.
"Hey, say it. Just tell me anything."
"Maybe, some other time, I do still need to observe."
"I think I already know it. It's about me, right?" Then he stopped walking and gave me a cold stare.
I sigh, "Y-yes. I was thinking if you are a---"
Brian laughed so loud, "Do you think I am a vampire?"
I was so humiliated, but I also laughed.
"No, not that." I looked at him.
"So, what?"
"I was thinking if you were really some sort of a mafia or a gangster." I looked away while I said that, maybe this is too early to say, but I can't help it.
"Avery, just trust me. I will not bite or hurt you. But, what if I am not that ordinary guy? Will you still be with me right now?"
Brian looked so serious.
"Yes, I still wanted to be with you. No matter what."
*Brian's phone ringing
"Excuse me."
Brian answered the call, but he looked like he was arguing.
Brian walked towards me and said.
"From now on, you will not leave my side, I will pick you up and drive you home, anywhere you go."
He really looked furious.
"Wait, what is it?"
"Just do what I said." He held my hand and we walked home.
