Chapter 2: The bald guy

Lia and I were in the pantry area, when this mysterious bald guy walked beside me with his guy friend.
"Avery, why do you keep staring at Brian? Don't tell me, he caught your attention?" Lia giggles.
"It's just that, ahh, is he really bald? ever since you met him?"
"No, this is the first time that I saw him bald, maybe, just for a change. You know what, No one dares to look at him just like what you always do since day one."
"oh, is he--"
I was shocked when I heard a guy talking behind my back.
"Hi, Lia and--"
I look at him and guess who? It's James, Brian's friend.
"ah, Avery."
"Hi, Avery, can we join you for lunch, ladies?"
I just nod while Lia is teasing me with her pathetic smile.
So, Brian sat beside me and James sat beside Lia.
"What's the catch about the staring game on your first day?" then smiled.
"It's actually your first day as well, right?"
James and Lia smiled at me.
"Basically, but you're the only new student that day that's why we did that, so, back to my question?" he smirked at me.
"I was just wondering why are you bald? ahhh, hmmm, it doesn't suit you."
Brian laughed at me and stared.
"Well, it's just for a change, I wanna try something new."
"So, let me ask you the same question, why are you staring at me on my first day?"
"I just stared you back, hahaha"
"Ehem.." Lia
"Ehem.." James
"Sorry to interrupt, but, can we eat first before continuing the chit-chatting?" Lia said and grip my hands.
"Oh, okay." Brian said.
"Sorry 'bout that ladies, but, this friend of mine was little ---"
Then Brian fills James' mouth with a big bun, it's actually the bun from his sandwich.
"Just don't mind him" smiled at me.
James's still murmuring.
*** Meanwhile,
"Avery, I can't wait to tell you." Lia looked so excited.
"What?"
"This is the first time that Brian talked to a girl."
"So, what does it---" I haven't finished my sentence yet, I hear Brian behind my back.
"Avery, can I drive you home?"
"Go, girl." Lia whispered to me.
"ahh, how about my truck?"
"We can handle it." Lia and James.
"Yeah, go ahead, bye!' Lia just walked away and she left me alone.
"Lia! We need to talk later!" I shouted and she just gave me a thumbs up.
"ugh! Lia." I murmured.
"Bro, gotta go, be careful." James winked at me.
Brian just smiled at him.
"Let's go?"
"Okay."
We walked to the parking area where his car was parked. And, I can't believe it, he's driving a Volvo S60R, you know just like Edward Cullen's car in Twilight.
"Come on, I opened the door for you."
I was still mesmerized by his car.
"Avery? You alright?"
"Ah, yeah. Your car was just like Edward's car."
He looked at me like, who the hell was Edward?
"It's the twilight thing you know...ahhh, I am a fangirl of Twilight."
He just chuckled and stretched his arms telling me to hop in.
"Okay."
He also hopped inside the car and started driving.
I was staring at the window while thinking where we were really going.
“Lia, are you okay?”
“Yeah, it’s just that---”
“What? You’re nervous?”
“Kinda.”
Brian just stared at me and laughed.
“Hahaha, you don’t need to worry, I won’t bite.”
Then, he smiled. Ugh! What is he doing? He’s making me insane.
“You don’t need to worry, I will just give you a little tour.”
I look at him and smile.

Meanwhile,
“Come on.” Brian opened the car door for me.
“Thanks.” I look around and see that we are in front of a treehouse.
“Wow. How did you know that there is a treehouse here? It’s beautiful.”
He just smiled and said “It’s mine.”
Then he held my hand and helped me climb the tree.
I was really mesmerized, it looked so beautiful, inside and out.
“Hey, are you okay?”
“Yes.” Then I sat down on the couch.
“To be honest, you are the first girl that I brought here.”
“R-really? But, why me?”
Brian just smiled at me and said, “I don’t know.”
“You're such a cliffhanger.”
Brian looked so happy and he stared at me and said,
“This is my hiding place, this place is special to me, only you and James knew this place.” Then he gave me a cold-stare and continued.
“Maybe, it’s because of your staring game on your first day.” Then he smiled.
“S-sorry, but I’m confused, why are you telling me all of this, you just met me for almost a week.”
“I don’t know, I don’t have an answer, but all I just wanted to do was to let you know about me.”
“What about you?”
“If you want me to be your friend, there is no easy way out. You're like a drug to me.”
I look at him and hold his hands.
“I don’t care, I still want to be your friend.”
He just smiled at me. “There’s no taking back, Avery Lim.”

It was almost 8 o’clock in the evening and Fred, I bet, was worried.
“Thank you. I really enjoyed the treehouse experience.” I smiled.
“Anytime.”
“Sorry for interrupting you, kids, but it’s almost late.” Dad was eavesdropping, I knew it.
“Sorry, dad, by the way this is Brian and Brian this is my dad.”
“Good evening, sir.”
“Good evening, I think you must go home now, it’s getting late.”
“oh, okay, thanks.” Then Brian hopped in his car and drove his way home.
“And, you. Young lady.” Dad looked at me.
“I am sorry, dad, but, still, don’t be too harsh on him, he’s a good guy.”
“Just be careful, Ave.”
“ Yes, chief!” I smiled and hugged him
“Thanks, dad, love you.” and I went into my room.

Brian was such a mysterious guy, what does he mean that there’s no way out? Is there a big secret or what? Is Lia correct about telling me that he's a mafia? Ugh!!!
What am I thinking?
*Mom calling
“Hi, mom.”
“Hi, how are you, honey? It’s almost a week since you left me?”
“Mom, I did not leave you.”
“I know, honey, I'm just fooling around, haha.”
“Mom, I need to go, I have a lot of homeworks to do."
"Oh, okay, you take care and please, be safe, always."
"Yes, mom, love you."
"Love you, too."
*Incoming call from unknown number.
"Hello? Who's this?"
