Chapter 011

A very loud yell dragged me out to of sleep, I jumped out of bed and my wolf immediately led me to the place where the noise was coming from. The mate bond twisted in pain and instantly knew that it was from Aria.

Pain surged through me and my wolf clawed forward, jolting upright at the thought of his mate being in danger. I ran all the way downstairs to where the pull drew me to.

What had she gotten herself into now? It’s not even morning yet. I got to the large sitting room to see her on the ground with no one in sight. But the faint smell of my father lingered in the air.

“What’s going on? What happened here?” I asked, looking around to see if there were any other person in sight.

“He- he wanted to talk. I didn’t- I didn’t know what.” She stuttered, hiccuping as she talked.

“Who? My father?” I asked, already getting tense at the thought of my father doing anything funny with her. Aria nodded rapidly, confirming my question. What exactly is that man’s problem? He doesn’t even live on this floor anymore.

How did he get in? What was he doing here at this time of the night? A lot of questions came up on my mind, but I had to make sure that Aria was fine first.

I got her to the couch then went to get her water before asking her any questions at all.

“Are you okay now?” I asked her, looking at how she heaved a sigh of relief after drinking the water.

She nodded and put aside the cup. I didn’t say anything but she already understood that she was meant to tell me all that transpired between her and my father already.

“He said he wanted to talk. I didn’t even know that I’d see him. I only went to get some water and snacks in the kitchen then I saw him there.” She started explaining.

I frowned, “I don’t understand, what was he doing in our suite?” I asked her.

“I also don’t know, I didn’t get the chance to ask before he started talking. He didn’t just talk, he dragged me and said a lot of demeaning things to me.”

Anger overtook my entire features, my fists clenched so hard that I felt my claws draw blood from my flesh. I nodded at Aria to go on.

“He said I’d always be a second choice to you, said there was a reason the moon goddess didn’t pair us together to begin with. He said Esmeralda will always be on your mind forever. Is that true? Do you think about her?” She asked me.

I lost it, I completely lost every control of myself. A very loud growl escaped my throat and I stood up with my wolf clawing at me, he wants me to give him control.

“You know that’s not true, I rejected her because I didn’t want her. I chose you, not her. Why did you even allow what that man said get to you? You should know that’s not true.”

She shrugged, “Everyone knows that the connection between fated mates is usually very strong. It can’t be like the one we made ourselves.”

“If there’s anything I feel for Esmeralda, it’s hatred for wanting to take over the kingdom from both my father and I. You’re the one I want, and that’s because I know that you complete me.” I assured her.

She blushed, “In that case, can I go shopping today?” She asked me, giving me one of those her puppy eyes.

“We have an important meeting with the council today, remember.” I told her and she grunted.

“I’m sure you can take care of it, I don’t need to be there for the meeting to hold.” She moved closer to me, rubbing circles on my chest.

She does that a lot, and I guessed that was her own way of wanting to make me lost control. It has never worked, the only person who has ever had control over me through physical touch is Esme-

“Uh? Can I go shopping with your card?” I came back to reality to the question.

“Yes, you can go.” I felt like I needed to apologize to her immediately for even thinking about that traitor, I shouldn’t be thinking about her at all.

Letting her go shopping was like a step forward, though I knew how important the meeting was for her. It was mainly about women and children, we’ve never done something about that aspect since we became king and queen. And that’s the responsibility of the Queen, so she should be there.

“Thank you! Thank you!! I love you so much! I can finally buy that dress that I’ve been eyeing. You’re such a sweetheart, Thorne.” She plastered kisses all over my face as she said that, giggling happily.

I’d never understand her recent obsession with dresses and all, she wasn’t like that before she became queen. Well, maybe it comes with the position.

“You’re welcome. Can you now go back to sleep? I need to attend to something now. I’ll join you later.”

I managed to coax her to sleep without me, then I made my way to my father’s quarters where I saw him nursing some injuries. I didn’t even care about that at all.

“What were you doing in my suite, what even prompted you to say what you said to Aria?” I asked him.

“What are you saying? You should be questioning your mate. I was only trying to help her but she crazily hit me.”

My jaw clenched, I wasn’t even surprised that he was lying. He has done worse than just lying.

“Don’t try to act smart with me, father. You know you can’t get me, so you want to use Aria as my weakness and cause a ruckus between us.”

He still looked clueless, “I don’t know what Aria told me, but trust me, I didn’t do anything to her.”

“This is a final warning from me to you, the next one won’t be this cordial. Stay away from me and my life, father.” I sneered.
