Chapter 014

~~Esmeralda~~ Fear like never before gripped me so hard, I wasn’t just staring at Killian alone, it was something darker and mixed. He looked like he was about to shift then he got stuck because he was only partially shifted. His face was still normal, but it had furs sprouting out of it. He looked so scary at the moment with the way his claws and fangs were out too even with half of his body still very normal. His eyes were glowing, there was no atom of normalcy in it again, it was just pure black and nothing more. He suddenly looked away from me, his eyes focused on the warrior who wanted to chain him down when he saw that his attention was diverted. In one swift motion, he knocked out the warrior. I was so mortified, the warrior looked like he wasn’t breathing anymore. He looked back at me and the fear increaed even more. Carson and some other warriors were still outside the room by thr way, they had been flung outside earlier. I didn’t even know what gave Lily and I the courage to walk in just like that. This creature standing before us looks nothing like Killain at all, it seemed as though I was staring at a beast. “Esmeralda, run out of this room now. I don’t know what you did to him, but it’s not safe here for you at all.” Lily said to me slowly. But the moment I took a step backwards, Killian let out a growl that had me rooted to the ground. I couldn’t move anymore, I was so scared that he’d repeat what he just did to the warrior to me. “Killain, listen to me. You have to fight back to get control. This isn’t you, please come back to us.” Lily pleaded He only spared her a glance before looking back at me. This time, with way more intensity. I didn’t do anything, I stood there shaking in fear. I was scared that any wrong move from me might propel him into thinking that I was an enemy and he’d want to attack. Suddenly, he let out a very loud growl and charged towards me. Terror arose in me and I bent down immediately, seeking for safety. I expected the attack but it never came. I looked up at him to see him paused mid air, he looked conflicted. Even with the glowing eyes and fur filled face, I found myself just staring right into his eyes. The glow and the darkness in his eyes drew me in, I couldn’t look away even if I wanted to. I rose to my feet again, every traces of fear wiped away from my body. I felt a burst of energy as I stared into the eyes of the beast. It felt as though I was staring into an endless space, it was so empty and hollow. But underneath that hollow space, something drew me in, something really dark and I just wanted to immerse myself in it. What felt like bliss to me seemed to pain the beat. He started moving away from me, his eyes contorted in so much pain. Wait, what exactly is going on? Everything felt like a nightmare. I never for once thought I’d be in this kind of situation. Both the beast and Killian have danger written all over them, but I was still very drawn to them. Was this what Killian meant when he said he was going to burn me and that one of us would die? Whatever was between us surely wasn’t good at all, it was dark and deadly. “Esmeralda, it’s time to leave now. We’ve called for backups, he’ll be taken care of soon.” Lily said into my ears, her voice so low that I could barely even hear her. “No, I don’t want to leave.” I said, shaking my head as I said that. My eyes were fixated on the beast who looked like he was wounded or something. He was in pain, and a part of my own soul cried out to it too. “Are you crazy? This isn’t Killian, in case you don’t know. We have to leave now, the beast seems to have calmed down now.” She said, trying to drag me out of the room. I stood rooted to the ground, shaking my head at Lily. I looked back at Killian to see that he was resisting the urge to shift fully, that was why he looked pained. As soon as he felt me staring at him, he looked up and his eyes glowed even more. The partial shift was almost a full shift, a reasonable part of his body was of the beast already. It was a scary sight. The moment Lily tried to drag me to follow her once again, the beast jumped into action. This time, he didn’t look like he was going to stop midway. But before he could get to me, he was met with a substance that I didn’t even see before. Wolfsbane. Lily poured just a little portion on him. The beast and Killian immediately went down. “That could kill him! Why did you pour it on him?” I asked Lily, shocked at what she just did. “That’s the only way we can stop him. And he was about to attack him again, do you really think he’ll stop just like the first time? You might have been on the ground lifeless as we speak, the beast has no soul.” She said. My mouth went dry immediately. But instead of being just scared, a part of me believed that Killian or the beast wouldn’t hurt me. I had this insane trust in him that he wouldn’t hurt me. I stared at his motionless body on the ground. People have started coming in to clean the room, but he laid in the middle of the chaos he created. I felt someone breathing down my neck and I looked back to see Carson behind me, his face pulled up in anger. “You’ll only bring destruction to this pack and Killian. I’ll get you out of here, even if it’s the last thing I do on earth. Mark my words.” And just like that, he was out of the room.
