~~ Thorne ~~
“Babe, please. I just want that particular dress. I promise I won’t disturb you for the rest of today again. Just this one.” Aria pleaded with me, pouting as she begged too.
“You can barely fit these clothes in the closet anywhere, it’s starting to look like that’s the only thing you do now. When was the last day you even entered your office to work?” I asked her, running my hands through my hair out of frustration.
“I was there yesterday, remember?” She asked me back.
“Yes, for the first time in weeks. I’ve been the one taking care of your duties as the Luna and Queen which isn’t meant to be so. The kingdom needs a motherly feel too.” I said.
Aria rolled her eyes, “Okay, fine. I’ll start working fully tomorrow. Though I still don’t know what you want me to do with the children and women. Everyone is fine the last time I checked. And I also satisfy you in bed, what more do you want?”
My jaw clenched, my already aching head ached even more.
“That’s not the point, Aria. Don’t you get it? There’s literally a guide to teach you how to be an active and better Queen. You don’t have to do extra or go all out. Be warm and nice towards people in the kingdom, create bonds with the Lunas of packs. The list goes on.”
We’ve been at this for a while now. It felt more like she was filling the space of a Queen beside me just so it wouldn’t be empty. She doesn’t do anything at all for the kingdom, and I was tired.
We were meant to work hand in hand and tackle obstacles together. We should brainstorm ideas and all, but I wasn’t even looking in that direction anymore, knowing she mightn’t be cut out for that kind of thing.
All I asked of her at the moment was just to bond with people, there should at least be a warm part to the kingdom and that should only come from the Queen, especially with the kind of foundation my father laid already.
Esmeralda was so natural when it came to that. She had already made waves in the kingdom in the little time she stayed here. If she was still here…
F*ck, I was thinking about her again. I already said I didn’t even want to remember that she ever existed anymore.
“Thorne, are you even listening to me?” Aria’s voice brought me back to reality.
“What did you say?”
“I asked if i could go already.” She answered me.
“Just leave. It’s not like you’re doing anything here. Go on and do your shopping.”
For some reasons, I was getting really mad. I didn’t know if it was just because of Aria or the persistent nagging feeling at the forefront of my mind that was telling me that I had made a very big mistake.
“I love you! I’ll do anything you want in bed tonight. I know you’re this snappy because you need some. Don’t worry, I’m always here for you.” She kissed me chastely on the lips then walked out of the office, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
Maybe I really did make a very big mistake. It was just too early in our tenure for me to be having such regrets already. I could only hope that the moon goddess have mercy upon the kingdom and just make things to the normal way.
I couldn’t allow my father have the last laugh, I didn’t want him to sense any issues with Aria either. But he was really starting to do so, because he had all his attention on her now.
A single knock came on my door, and I knew who it was even before the door was opened. My second in command came in, pushing the door open.
“Your majesty, we’ve been trying to get to you through mindlinking.” He said, rushing the words.
Their incessant tries to get into my head even added to my headache. I had to put up my mental block for my sanity, but they still didn’t stop at that.
“What happened?”
“It’s the queen, she has attacked someone!”
I stood up immediately, already at alert after what he just said. I sped out of the office with him on my tail. I got outside in no time, seeing Aria holding someone’s hair. She had made the woman kneel down but she was still pulling her hair.
“What’s going on here?” I asked, trying so hard to keep my cool.
“She disrespected me, I’m just teaching her a lesson. She had the effrontery to look me in the eye while greeting me. ” Aria responded.
The person on the ground wasn’t just anyone, she was old enough to give birth to her.
“Your majesty-” The woman tried to talk, but Aria disrupted by twisting her hair even tighter.
“Did I give you the permission to talk?!”
I couldn’t take it anymore, I took Aria away from the woman and held her by the wrist tightly. It was tight enough to let her know that I was angry, but not tight enough to hurt her.
“Make sure the woman is taken care of, you know what to do.” I told my second in command and he nodded.
I was really pissed. I still had this conversation with Aria yesterday. I told her to never hurt any member here, we’re to protect them and not to punish them!
“You have to trust me, Thorne. She started it. First she looked me in the eye while greeting me, then she started telling me what to do and what not to do here! I’m the Queen-“ I cut her off harshly.
“I don’t think you still want to be the Queen though. You don’t act like you want this position. What exactly is your problem?! Did you see how old the woman you told to kneel down is? You treat everyone here like trash, they’re not your slaves! I shouldn’t even be telling you these! Your common sense should have!”
The anger brewing up in me didn’t even make me see that she was crying. I stormed out of the room, leaving her there.
