The Recovery Medicine

1612 Words
I woke up healthy as a horse early in the morning. I removed the bandages around my arms, and I see that I am fully healed. That medicine they gave me worked wonders. I can't feel any pain, nor I see any scars on my arms. I did a punch to my own fist. There is no pain. "Alright!" I said to myself. "Time to go training!" I went down to the floor and did some stretching. I jogged around the room and pushed up. "Twenty, twenty-one, twenty-two!" My arms are about to give up. This can't be.... Is this all I can do? No! I will stop when my arms can't feel anything! "Twenty-three, twenty-four, twenty-five!" "Leo," said Philip from his bed. "What are you doing?" "Training! Twenty-uhhh..... Damn, I forgot!" I stopped counting, but not stopping until I can't move up anymore. "Now for sit-ups!" I changed my position to do sit-ups. "We will have three months for training before the fighting tournament," said Sander. "Right now, we have to focus on studying." "I'll do both at the same time!" I grunted as I exerted force. My body is all sweaty now. "Are you sure you can do that?" "It doesn't matter if I can do it or not. It is a matter of will to do it." "Well, don't go overboard with it," said Philip. "or it will result in the opposite of what you intend to achieve." "Okay!" I said. "Now for squats!" I trained my whole body until I feel I can't move them anymore. I even did pull-ups. The result was me on the bed, not able to move at all. Philip and Sander looked at me like they knew this would happen. "Hehe, my bad...," I said. "Oh! Do you guys happen to have more of that medicine?" They sighed. "Yes," said Sander. "but we were given only personal supplies of five tablets every month. And wait.... Hmm..." What is he thinking about? "The effects of this medicine are different from demigods and humans. I've read about how this medicine works, and I found out that one pill can heal a full-grown demigod, half for a child, and one-fourth for a fully grown human. I gave you one-eight last night, and now you are fully healed! Before I mean, before you trained." "Oh, gimme some of that!" I said. "No," they both said. "What?" I reacted violently. "We'll have to make you get your own supply," said Sander. "Yeah," added Philip. "You must ask to get your own medicine at the clinic of this academy. I am sure they have it. If you manage to have five pills every month, it'll last you..... Eight times five... forty days!" "Wow! Really?" "Yeah, so for now, I'll give you the other one-eight I cut last night, and we will go to the clinic." Sander gave me the medicine and I chewed on it. It has the color of silver. Woah! This is delicious, it is like a candy! "Why does this medicine taste good?" "I don't know," said Sander. "It is called the 'Recovery Medicine,' and it's the work of a god," said Philip. "no sense in questioning it." "Oh yeah..... You're right," I said. I rested for a minute and my muscles healed fast. I tried to push up again, but Philip hit me in the head for trying it. We went to the boys' bathroom that is a ten meters walk from our dorm to take a bath. We then changed into our uniform and went for the clinic. I feel a little weak. "So," I said. "is there a side-effect of the use of that medicine?" "As far as I know, none," answered Sander. "There are no side-effects." "It is a perfect healing medicine," added Philip. "Yeah, but it has limitations." "Like what?" I asked. "Like it can't regrow your cut off limbs. The medicine is only made to hasten the healing process of the body, so you will experience weakness after you consume it. It also has different healing properties according to different types of tissues in the body. In connective tissues - that is the tissues found in organs, its effect is only cleansing. In epithelial tissues - the skin, its effect is healing minor and major wounds but may leave a scar if it is a major wound. In muscle tissues, it repairs the muscle rapidly, just like what happened to you earlier. The strange thing about it is that muscles are supposed to become bigger as they are repaired after damaging it through work, but the medicine retains the original shape of a muscle, but also making it stronger and durable." "Wow, that's awesome!" I exclaimed. We walked up to the stairs. "Yeah, I find it amazing too. There is a God of Medicine, but his work only focused on using different herbs and plants to make effective medicines that even humans can manufacture. This medicine that the God of Healing made is bound with his power using his Nature Control, and for some reason, they don't give humans this kind of medicine." "What's 'Nature Control?'" I asked. "The gods being able to control nature according to their own power," said Philip. "Yeah, so now we get back to the topic. The last that I know of is the Nervous tissue, its effect is improving muscle memory. Not literally the "muscle" but the connection of your nerves and your brain as you keep doing repetitive actions like dancing and sports. There are many other tissues in the body that the medicine has specific effects on, but I don't want to talk about all of it, because it will take long. One more thing, the medicine can't repair a damaged organ like the heart and the brain, so don't be too careless in thinking that it is an 'All healing' medicine." "Okay, got it," I said. I am feeling very assured that this medicine will help me a big deal. We finally reached the clinic. The two of them entered before me. Inside, I saw that it is much like the clinics in the human districts. We went to the nurse that's sitting behind the table at the corner. She looks like a kind lady and a very beautiful one. She wore a white uniform and put a kind smile. "Uh, good morning, ma'am," said Sander. "Yes, dear?" "Can he get some monthly quota of Recovery Medicine?" He pointed at me. "Oh, is he the God of Gravity?" "Yes." "Alright, come here, child." She pulled a black, glossy plate from under, and put it on the desk. "Just put your right hand on that plate, dear." "What is it for?" I asked. "It's for recording your vitals, your quotas for medicines, and prescriptions." "Wow...," I said in awe as the pad started to glow. The nurse brought the medicine and gave it to me. I saw that there are only three of the tablets. "Ma'am," said Sander. "I thought the quota is five tablets per month." "He gets three," she said in a smile. "because he is not a demigod, nor he is a god. He is just a freeloader here in the District." "What? Last time I checked, there is no mandate that specifically says that the God of Gravity only gets three!" "I am the rule here...," she said with that threatening eyes. "This is not right!" yelled Sander. She rose from her seat, looked at us with despise. She looks like she's gonna do something horrible to us. "Leave or you won't get your own quota next month!" "No, that's not fair!" he said, but Philip pulled him to the door. "Don't mind her, let's go!" said Philip. We went out the door, and Sander slammed it hard. "Why you!" said the nurse as her voice sounded like an old hag. We hurriedly ran down to the stairs. So that's what Sir Mario talked about.... The past gods of Gravity must've been mistreated like this. "Even this academy is not making any sense!" said Sanders angrily. "I'm sorry Leo. We can't get your tablets in a number we expected." "It's okay," I said. "This is more than enough. I'll just have to cut each of these into ten pieces, and it'll be just fine!" "Don't," said Philip. "I'll give you one of mine. After all, we are all in this together. The three of us must train enough to be strong, so we could do what we promised." "Okay!" said Sander after his temper cooled down. "I'll give you mine too!" "Isn't that unfair for you guys?" I asked as we opened the door to our dorm. "One tablet of that will only serve you two times." "We know," said Philip as he sat down on his bed. "But you need to work not only on your combat skills but also with your strength, not to mention that you don't have the Olympian Strength like us. Sander and I will only be working in our combat skills and a little with strength. So that makes us even. Even if it is not enough, we can just go to the canteen and eat some tons of food." He gave me one of his tablets, and so did Sander. "Thank you!" I said. "No problem!" said both of them. I put the tablets in a jar and hid it under my bed. "Okay," said Sander. "Now that is settled, let's go to class." I nodded, and we went on our way. I am glad I met these guys. They have been good friends to me even we just met yesterday. I promise I will repay their kindness, and get rid of the injustice they have been enduring in this district. That is if I can become the King of Olympus, and the only way to do it is to train a THOUSAND TIMES HARDER!
