The Messenger

I spent my afternoon cleaning up the mess I made in my room. My mother is like a beast whenever she gets angry. She's fiercer than a king of lions, and her roar really pierces my spine, until I get weak to even talk back. Now I am here, at the kitchen washing the dishes before dinner. This is the punishment she gave me. I got no choice because my life is at stake here. However, I still felt unfair about this punishment, because I have to wash even the pots and kettles. "This is so unfair," said to myself. "What's that?" she asked in a threatening tone. Oh, no..... She heard that? "Nothing!" I said and washed the dishes faster as fear ran down my nerves. Dad is the only one who can save me right now..... I need you, Dad! "I'm home," said Dad as I turned around and saw him closing the door. I saw Mom at the stove, cooking something. She's busy with it, so I think it is safe to whisper to Dad that I want him to save me from this punishment. "Dad, save me," I said clearly with my mouth without a sound. He went to me and I am glad that he's going to save me now. Yes! I am saved! He tapped my left shoulder and asked: "So what did you do?" he asked while smiling. "I-" I was about to say what I did, but then I saw his sweating face, looking at something at my right. I turned around to see what is it, and there is the beast... She looks like she's going to kill both of us while she chops the carrots. We both swallowed. He looked at me smiling and said, "You're on your own, son. I'm sorry." NOOOOOOO!!! "You have forsaken your son...," I said with a tear in my eye. He turned around and put his left arm on his eyes. I can't believe he is my parent. What kind of parent that abandon his child? Shame on you, Dad. No..... He's not my father anymore.... - * "John," said Leo's mom as he continued to wash the dishes. John is the name of his father. "Yes, honey?" he said as he turned around, looking nervous. "What did I told you about drinking alcohol?" "To stop drinking it." "Then why did you drink?" He laughed nervously and said, "No, I didn't...." "Hmm....," she grunted with a fierce look in her eyes. "Yes...," he confessed. "No dinner for you!" * - "NOOOOOOO!!!" cried my father as he kneeled down and pulling the leg of my mother. "Please, I beg you! Don't do this to me! I always return home, looking forward to your cooking! I am gonna die without it!" "No! Learn your lesson!" said my Mom as she walked over him and prepared the food on the table. My father is still on the floor, crying. "Shame...," I said while looking down on him. Hera, my younger sister came running down from the stairs and hugged my depressed father. "Daddy!" she said. Later, Mom forgave him. We ate our dinner quietly on the table. My sister doesn't know what happened, because she's still naive. She ate happily, while father and I ate with a feeling of discomfort. For the eyes of the beast, gave us goosebumps. After that, we said our goodnights and went to our respective rooms. I tried to sleep, but I can't. I kept thinking about the two goddesses with legendary power, and why I have this power. I looked at my hand, covering the light bulb from my eyes. I realized I might have a chance of becoming a god on Olympus, using this power. "Hey," said a guy. I looked at the window at my right, and there's this ugly guy. He surprised me. "Ahhhh!!!" I screamed. His face is so haggard, and ugly. His fashion sense is so dorky, that makes me cringe. How did he get up here? My room is on the second floor. Oh..... he can fly... He can fly? "What kind of reaction is that when meeting a god?" he asked sarcastically. "You are a god? I almost thought that you are a perverted old man." "Why you-" He became angry at me, but he calmed down and sighed. "I am Harold, the messenger god." "Oh, they still need messenger men? We have phones now, you know..." "That's it! You stupid human! I am gonna send you to the depths of Tartarus!" "I thought only the Goddess of Death can do that!" "Not anymore!" He flew inside my room in circles. He had these boots with wings, he wore boxer shorts and a sleeveless shirt. "Oh crap!" I said. "How dare you insult my purpose, human!" he said with a squealing voice. "I just said the truth!" "Well, you will pay for it!" He started to dive down towards me. I covered my face. Suddenly, I felt a strong breeze behind me as I stood before the window on the bed. It was very strong that it made me fall down, and the dorky god was blown away. "Ahhhh!" he screamed and a thud was made when he collided to the wall. He stood up after he fell on the floor, and he fixed his golden wreath on his head. He cleared his throat, pulled a scroll, and read it. Where the hell did that scroll came from? "Leonide Padine, the God of Gravity is invited to the Hades' Academy of Demigods." Oh, that explains the power I used earlier. "What? I am the God of Gravity?" I asked. "Yes." "But why did I just acquired it yesterday? I thought power is inborn." "Yes, but the power of gravity is different from other powers." "Why?" "It can only be passed on to a human, and needn't to be born with." "But why am I not invited to the Olympians' Academy of Gods?" "That's because you're not a god." "You said I am the God of Gravity." "Yes, but you are just a puny human with the power of a god! You don't have the Olympian Strength. That makes you equivalent to a demigod!" He breathed very hard, and his ears are red. "Okay... Just calm down." "Are you treating me like an equal? I'll show you....." He stopped walking towards me. "You're lucky that the King of Olympus tried to save you." He gave me a silver envelope. It is heavy and made of pure silver. There is a seal that looked like Hades' pitchfork. "This will serve as your pass to enter the Hades District, don't lose it!" He left as soon as he can through the window. "He said I am going to the Demigod District!" I heard a scream behind the door, and it fell down with my father's kick. "Who's the intruder?" he screamed with a stance. "I am going to the Hades District!" "What?" I told him what happened. About my power, and who gave me this letter. "Wow!" he exclaimed. "I have a god son!" What a pun, I thought. His yelling stopped as soon as he felt the presence of Mom. "What?" she exclaimed after I told her too. She turned into an angel as she smiled and happy for me. "We are gonna celebrate tonight! John, to the kitchen, now!" "Okay!" he said. "Big-brother Leo!" said Hera as she came towards my stomach and hugged me. "You're going to the Demigod District? Can I come too, please..." She looks cute, but, "I am afraid you have to stay, Hera, because Mom and Dad need you here." "No! I wanna go too!" "Hera...," I said as she stuck her face on my stomach. "How about this, I will call you every day, and I will bring you big boxes of candies when I visit!" "You promise?" she asked. "I cross my heart and hope to die." "Yay!" She said as she ran out of the room. "When I get there, I will prove my strength. Enough that they will acknowledge me as a god!" I put my fist in the air.
