Violet spent the next few days alternatively reading the handbook and plotting to get into the room with the symbol on the door. The handbook was terrifying. There was a lot of stuff in there about purity and cleansing, which was disgusting. She did not need to memorize that kind of rubbish. She had hoped there would be something useful in there that would help her get out of this whole mess. Still, she learned the whole thing by heart, even though it made her sick.
