Beatrice
They all kept staring at me as though I was the only one who stole it. I had to speak up because I didn't like the gazes I was receiving from them.
“What! Why are you staring at me in such a way?” I asked in a cold tone and she shrugged.
She left the high ground she was standing on and walked toward me with a cold look on her face. The maids who were around stayed away from me as though I was a plague.
I hissed and looked away without sparing a glance at any of them.
“What do you want this time, Eleanor?” I asked in a cold tone and she scoffed.
“I should be asking you that question,” she said, and I shrugged.
“You should go and look for that so-called necklace you're searching for,” I said and looked up instinctively as a waft of scent hit my nose.
My heart skipped a hit as my nose picked the scent of my mate, Ethan, who chose to go against me and be with my supposed friend, Eleanor.
“Good morning, Alpha,” the maids greeted him and bowed their heads in respect when they noticed his presence, but I didn't greet him. I was only staring at the man who used to love me unconditionally with a hint of unwillingness and doubt in my eyes.
He would do anything so he could be with him. I couldn't count the number of times he would fight with the pack's elders because they kept requesting asking for an heir.
He didn't for once get angry at me because I was unable to give birth to his heir. I couldn't help but wonder why he'd had to change into someone else after I finally managed to conceive. Something we've been praying to the moon goddess for.
Now, he claimed that someone else was responsible for my pregnancy even though he knew I never let anyone come close to me except him.
“I'm sure my baby must have told you all that I'm searching for. If you know the necklace is in your possession, you should return it before you get caught,” he said, and they all stammered in fear.
“Something came to my mind,” Eleanor spoke, and turned to me with a smile on her face.
“What is that?” He asked her, and she walked past him without saying anything.
She stood before me while staring at my face intensely. I stared back at her without flinching.
“Did you steal his necklace, Beatrice?” She asked and I arched my eyebrows.
“What do you mean by that, Eleanor?” I asked in a cold tone.
“You haven't answered my question. Did you steal it or not?” She asked and I shrugged.
“I didn't so what?” I asked in an annoyed tone.
“Since you're confident that you didn't steal his necklace, why don't we search your chamber?” She asked and I took a deep breath.
“Why would you choose to search my chamber of all the quarters and houses you can search for?” I asked and glared at her.
“Why are you scared? Did you take it? Don't tell me you did,” She asked and the maids behind me began to murmur.
An ominous feeling was aroused inside of me when I saw the smile on her face.
“Whatever. You can go and search for it,” I said and she smiled.
“Guards,” she called, and two guards stood by her side.
I followed her to my chamber, so the guards could search for the so-called necklace he was looking for.
I was confident that they weren't going to find it because I didn't steal his necklace.
“I can't find anything, my lady,” one of the guards said, searching everywhere.
“You see? I didn't take it, so can you leave and quit accusing me?” I asked and she shook her head vehemently.
I should have known that she had bad motives when she insisted she was going to search my chamber of all chambers and houses.
“Wait,” she said and walked toward my bed, then took the bag on the table. She poured out the contents of the bags on the floor and a gold necklace fell out of my bag.
“What!” She exclaimed in shock when she saw it.
“Isn't this the necklace you were looking for?” She asked and he walked closer to her.
“Yes that's it,” he picked it up and inspected it closely. Ethan turned to me with a fierce gaze on his face and I shuddered in fear.
I was also shocked.
“You kept his necklace in your bag because you thought no one was going to find it, right?”
“You want to sell it so you can get some gold, right?” She kept bombarding him with heart-wrenching accusations.
“No, I didn't steal it,” I said and moved closer to Ethan, who kept staring at me with a cold look on his face.
“I know you're desperate to have me back, but I didn't expect you to stoop so low,” he said and shook his head with a sigh.
“I didn't steal it. She's lying. This is a setup,” I kept yelling, but he chose to ignore me without paying attention to me.
“Guards. Take her away and lock her for the rest of the day. She just committed treason against me, the Alpha,” he said, and the guards surrounded me as though I was a criminal. Maybe I was a criminal since I have been framed as a thief. “Haven't you done enough?” I asked and turned to Eleanor, who smirked at me.
“Goodbye,” she said as the guards dragged me out of my chamber.
I yelled, struggled and screamed at the top of my voice, but none of them bulged. They didn't spare a glance at me.
They threw me into a dungeon after dragging me from my chamber without caring about my condition. I was impregnated by their Alpha. But who cares? None of them believed me.
I was sleeping in the dungeon on an empty stomach. My stomach keeps rumbling because I haven't eaten anything.
“Hey. Get out,” one of the guards with scar marks on his face opened the door and walked inside.
He grabbed my arms and pushed me outside the dungeon. I cried as I knelt down on the cold floor while rain poured heavily on me.
By the time the rain stopped, I was shivering profusely. My body was aching and burning with excruciating pain.
“Beatrice,” I opened my eyes weakly as I heard his calm yet dangerous voice.
“Ethan,” I called.
“I forgot to tell you something. I thought I could keep you as a slave in my pack, but it seems you don't deserve anything.”
“I, Ethan Wood, the Alpha of the Blood Moon pack, reject Beatrice Blake as my mate,” he said, and I gasped out in shock.
“Why?”
“You should accept the rejection and leave the pack,” he said, and turned to leave.
I took a deep breath and watched as tears poured down from my eyes. I called him back while trying to soothe the pain that burned through my heart.
I couldn't help but recall all the lovely moments we spent together before my supposed best friend betrayed me and ruined it.
“I haven't accepted the rejection,” I said, and he turned to me.
“So what? You won't accept the rejection?” He asked.
“I will because you don't deserve me either,” I muttered even though my heart was clenching in pain.
“I, Beatrice Blake, accept the rejection of my mate, Ethan Wood,” I muttered, and I felt a sharp pain piercing through my heart. He held his chest. He felt the pain too.
The bond that ties us as mates has been severed with a single word of rejection. Every day of being together till eternity has been shattered.
“Goodbye,” he said and left without sparing a glance at me.
Once he left, I slumped hard on the floor and began to cry. I thought I would be able to handle the heartbreak until he rejected me. I didn't think of how painful and disheartening rejection would be because he never gave me reasons to reject me in the past.
Why now? Why now of all time after getting pregnant for him?
I staggered back to my feet and walked deep inside the woods close to me. I didn't bother to look back.
I have decided to kill myself and end it all. The love of my life has rejected me and my pregnancy despite the years that we've been together. My father has disowned me and banned me from coming to his house to maintain his so-called good reputation in the pack.
I picked up the rope lying on the floor and hung it up on the thick branches of the tree. I took a deep breath and swallowed the lump in my throat as I climbed the tree.
Just as I was about to place my neck inside the rope, I heard a cold yet cute voice.
My heart raced happily as a cinnamon and vanilla mixed scent hit my nose, easing whatever pain I was experiencing at that moment.
I felt light-headed the moment I heard his voice, which was soothing and calm like that of an ocean.
My wolf growled impatiently and shook vigorously, on the verge of losing his composure.
I was in a daze until I heard his cold yet cute voice. The last time I had such
A feeling was when I found my mate, who turned out to be Ethan.
“Is that how you intend to end your precious life, mate?” he asked.
What! Mate?
