Chapter 7

Dean “She accepted your offer without thinking twice?” my beta asked with a surprised look on his face and I shrugged. I ruffled my hair and paced to and fro in the room with a cold look on my face. “That's not enough reason for you to overwork yourself. It's a win-win for you, right?” Callum asked and I scoffed. “It seems you don't understand. She accepted without any ounce of hesitation. Do you know many girls throw themselves at me just to have a taste of me?” I asked and he chuckled. “What do you want me to do about this? It seems you're not perfect after all,” he said and chuckled again. I turned to him with a fiery gaze, and he kept quiet, lowering his head in fright. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't shake off the feeling I felt when I heard her response after telling her that I wasn't interested in marking her as my mate. She accepted readily, not caring about losing me. Was it because I sounded rude? Was it because she thought nothing of me? I asked myself, but I couldn't get an answer to it. I felt that was impossible. How could she not want to be with someone like me? I will make sure she regrets her actions. But how do I go about that? I asked myself. Her response or behavior that day might be nothing to her, but it crumbled and shattered my pride and I wouldn't let her get away with it. I smirked coldly as an idea crossed my mind. She certainly won't be expecting what I will do to her. “What do you plan to do about her?” Callum asked and stared at me skeptically. “Her? I would make her fall in love with me and make sure that she carved every part of my body before tossing her away like she never existed. In that way, she won't dare look down upon me again,” I said. “But is that necessary?” He asked and walked into the cellar before I could give him a response. “You could have waited for my response,” I said and shook my head with a sigh. I sat down on the swivel chair across the long table before me and picked up a black pen from the table. I wrote some rules on a blank paper and smiled in satisfaction after I was done writing the rules. I wrote the rules specially for my new mate. I would make her life miserable by crushing my ego in such a way. “That's unfair,” my wolf, Kai, complained, and I shrugged. “What's unfair? Didn't you see how ready she is to leave us after the contract?” I asked and he chuckled. “Weren't you the one that offered the contract to her? Were you expecting our mate to be on her knees begging you?” He asked. “Yes,” I responded and disconnected the link that enabled him to talk with me. “Here I come, mate,” I muttered, and walked out of my office with a white paper in my right hand. For the first time, I felt enthusiastic about returning to my chamber, which had always been a nightmare to me. “These are the rules and…” I found myself swallowing back the words I intended to say when I saw the scene before me. My brother was holding the neck of my mate with his arms and he was leaning closer to her. And if that wasn't enough, I also perceived the smell of arousal in the air. I felt my blood boil in anger at the thought of my mate feeling aroused around my brother. I got angry and threw him out, controlling the urge to kill him. “She's not worthy of me,” I kept reminding myself, trying to control my emotions that were in turmoil. I thought she was different from other girls after she readily accepted to leave me after two years of our mate contract, but I was disappointed to perceive the smell of arousals around her even though I hated to admit it. Females are the same, after all. Why would she not want me? But would she be aroused by my brother? I shook my head vehemently and took a deep breath, trying to control the anger and jealousy that surged through my veins. “The same way you wouldn't want another she-wolf to come close to me, right?” I asked and stared at her intensely, trying to read her expression. I knew my question was unnecessary and absurd, but I couldn't help it. I was expecting her to look jealous or something, but she remained indifferent instead. “What does your relationship with other girls have to do with me? Remember, this is not real, right?” She asked and stared at me weirdly. I looked up at her and stared at her briefly, slightly taken aback by her question. For the first time, I felt stupid, or she made me feel stupid. Who could have believed that a random girl would be fearless and arrogant in my presence, Prince Dean? I kept quiet, unaware of what to say. I glanced at her and took out the white paper that I had kept in my pocket, then slammed it on the table. “What is that?” She asked curiously. “Find out yourself,” I said curtly, and she shrugged before reaching out to the paper on the table. “Rules and regulations regarding our relationship?” She asked in disbelief and I nodded my head in response. “Yes. Make sure you follow those rules and regulations if you don't want to feel my wrath,” I said and glared at her fiercely, but she seemed unfazed. “So what if I refuse not to follow those rules and regulations?” She asked and dropped the paper on the table without glancing at me. I looked up at her in surprise. My gaze turned cold and serious instantly when I realized that she was planning to defy my word. I knew I needed to put her in her place. Even if she doesn't want me now, I will make sure she knows that I'm not someone to be trifled with.
