Chapter 2

“It's ADRIAN!!!” The girls screamed and everyone turned back, looking at the so-called handsome boy. He walks in majestically with his annoying look. He is a white guy, handsome looking I must say, tall and fit, with annoying blue eyes and, to top it all, he has a cold, rude, and annoying attitude. When it comes to grades, he is a bit ahead of me, but in swimming I am a god. I smirked at him as he walked to his position. Mr. Rogers, our swimming teacher, is popularly called Mr. Mermaid because of his unique style of swimming. “Ready…GO!!” he shouted and everyone dived in, the water clapping as we swam. I decided to use the Backstroke swimming technique. It's my weakest technique, but I must perfect it and get rid of any weaknesses, besides. Besides, I want to use it to defeat Adrian.

I raised my head, “It's a draw!!” Mr. Mermaid said. I turned, it was Adrian. Why does he want to be perfect in everything? I won't let him beat me in my game. He said to me "Don't be too proud, Kris, it doesn't suit you. You know you're not good at backstroke swimming. What were you thinking?” He asked, raising an eyebrow. I came out of the water and faced him. “Yeah I'm not good at backstroke swimming, but, how come it's a draw? Doesn't it mean your best is equal to my weakest?” I said in a mocking tone. He smiled “I'm not a fan of excuses, but I'll say this, it's a draw because I am not too well. Don't be surprised next time” he said as he left. The match was over, “are you a fish or what? I was fast, just like a mermaid, but I came tenth?!!!” Peter asked, surprised.

We changed and ate our lunch. The thought of Daisy still occupied my mind, “maybe she is sick.” I should visit her after school. The other classes took an eternity to be over. It was a long and boring class. I know we have our college examination coming up, but this isn't for me. I am going to go to a sports university and become a professional swimmer. My records are good enough and I also have different regular awards. Finally, school was over, I walked out with Eve and Peter. “Want to hang out?” Eve asked “Not really, I'm going somewhere,” I said with a smile.” Probably a girl, good luck, bro,” Peter said.

“You've got another girl so soon? You just broke up with Lora last week”, Eve asked surprised. “Hey, I'm just going to a friend's place,” I said, as I took a different turn quickly, I didn't need more questions. I walked in the direction of Daisy's house following her address which I got from our homeroom teacher.

I heard the sound of a bicycle behind me. I turned, and it was Adrain. “Do you wanna race?” he said as he rode past me." Really!! I mean it isn't a fair match” I shouted. “Life isn't fair! Bro”, he shouted back.

“Fine, don't be surprised Adrian”, I said to myself, and started running, or more like chasing after him. Surprised, I ran fast, faster than usual. “I just want to win now”. I got closer to him, grabbed onto his bike, and jumped over it, and he, too. I landed in his front, posing like Spider-Man.” I won”, I shouted with a big smile on my face. He looked at me with a frown. “I didn't say start, I wasn't even racing, so how did you win? Really?” He asked me, looking as shameless as he could ever be.

I gave up, he was a cheat and a scammer. “I shouldn't have wasted my strength” I mumbled to myself. I turned, recognizing house number 47. This must be Daisy's house!!!. Adrian knocks on the big black gate, but no answer. He rang the bell but no answer came, “I don't think she is at home?” I said, but he ignored me. Damn, this lunatic!! I stared at the big gate, looking like the gate of a prison, so strong and enormous. “I bet no one would be able to break into this house,” I said quietly. He took his phone and dialed a number .No way! “Hello, I am outside your house right now,” he said and ended the call.”How did you get her number? “ I asked, looking at him suspiciously. “I'm the class president, isn't it natural?” He asked, I nodded, not satisfied, though.

Daisy POV

I rushed out of my room, and hurriedly climbed the steps, “ah!” I exclaimed as I hit my leg on the door. I groaned in pain as I walked outside, towards the gate, leaping. I opened the gate and peeped outside, “Kris came too. Why? Come in” I said. Adrian walked in but stopped and turned to Kris, “Aren't you coming?” He asked. “Do I have to? You are the one visiting” Kris said, “he shouldn't come, let him go home, rude jerk” I said without caring whether he heard me or not.”You're here already, so just come” Adrian said, trying to persuade the jerk.” please come in, it's cold outside,” I said to Kris, forcing a smile. He sighed” Okay I will,” he said. I led them to the sitting room and they both sat down before I could say please sit. Their sitting posture seemed so comfortable, too comfortable when we weren't close.

“Why didn't you come to school today?”Adrian asked.” I wasn't feeling too well, but I will be in school tomorrow” I answered. Kris didn't say anything, he just kept staring at me. I felt uncomfortable because of his stare.”Hey, Kris”, Adrian called, tapping him. He turned, “She said if you wanted anything to drink”. Adrian lied “oh, I'm good, thank you,” Kris said politely. I smiled at his reaction. “She didn't say anything, what are you thinking about, old man?” Adrian asked Kris teasingly. He just looked at Adrian blankly.

knock, knock, I heard the door. Oops, I had forgotten to lock the gate. Kris stood up to get to the door, he was a strange guy.” Is it because he is friends with Peter?” I wondered. He opened the door like he was in his house. James and Rita came in,my two besties. Kris walks out…" Is he leaving?” Kris, Kris." Adrian calls, but he doesn't answer.

"What's wrong with him?” Rita asked me, "How would I know?”I retorted.”I will go and check up on him” Adrian said, leaving too. “Since when did those two become close?” James asked.

Kris POV,

I kept walking towards the woods after I left Daisy's house. It was already late, and the moon was fully awake and shining brightly. I could hear Adrian's voice faintly from afar, but it didn't bother me. All I cared about was my destination, that was all that mattered…
