Amelia felt disappointed that Ethan was talking down to her, but she wasn't expecting anything less.
“Next time you try to make this mistake again, then you have yourself to be blamed”the bodyguard sounded a warning to Amelia before taking a step behind Ethan.
Amelia was left standing and watching both figures leave her sight even though she had demonstrated courage. Deep down she was afraid that the man might order his bodyguard to charge against her, so she heaved a sigh of relief knowing that they had left her alone unharmed.
One of the sales ladies who was watching the whole scene as it unfolded, marched towards Amelia.
“How can you challenge a man like Mr Ethan Prescott? " You should thank your stars that he's in a good mood today and did not order his bodyguards to deal with you,” the sales rep uttered.
Ethan Prescott seems like a famous name. Since Amelia had just arrived at Willowbrook she had no idea what this man was and why everyone was so scared of him.
“Can you tell me briefly about this man and why it seems like everyone is scared of him?” Amelia asked curiously.
“Ethan Prescott is the head of the Prescott Empire. The most prestigious company in the country. He is known to be very ruthless and won't spare anyone who stands against him. Rumors have it that he had been like this because his fiancée left him, leaving him for someone more wealthy, and this made him completely crave success and, since he rose to the top, he had been treating everyone with contempt”, the sales rep whispered while she tried to check around to ensure no one was eavesdropping or could hear her.
“You should stay far away from him if you love yourself”, she finally advised.
“I see now I understand, but that doesn't mean he could look down on just anyone. " If there was a time he had his struggles, others also had struggles they went through, so he shouldn't use his sadness to rub on others”, Amelia defends.
The sales rep wasn't impressed with Amelia's defense. She knew such a statement could put her in trouble, so she quickly disapproved of Amelia's reply and left Amelia.
Amelia continued her shopping and was still thinking about her encounter with the stranger.
When she was done shopping and was about to leave then she saw three strong men surrounding a man who looked really weak. They were forcing him to come with them, but the man was only pleading for forgiveness while they paid no heed to his plea.
Amelia felt pity for this young man who was overpowered by these three huge men. She thought about leaving and minding her business, but on a second thought, she felt that it would be better if she helped, observing that even though other people were standing there, they were just staring at the whole scene observing, as these three men were busy oppressing this weak man. Amelia couldn't take it anymore, so she marched forward to stop them.
“What are you doing to him? Just because you are huge and more powerful, do you think it is proper to oppress others with your strength?” Amelia uttered as she moved forward to move closer to them.
“You should stay out of this issue, woman. " You don't really know what is happening here, so I would advise you to stay out of this issue and allow us to take this man to meet our boss,” one of the bodyguards said.
“I don't need to know the whole issue before I make a conclusion regarding what is going on.I have eyes and I can see clearly that you are oppressing this young man here and even those others won't act on his behalf.I am willing to support him no matter what.I won't stand here and watch you oppress this young man because you are more powerful than him”, Amelia said seriously.
Everyone's eyes widened in disbelief. They couldn't understand what had given Amelia so much courage to go against these powerful men.
Ethan suddenly interrupted.
“You again, what is actually going on and why do you keep interfering in my affairs?” Ethan turned to Amelia and asked.
“Do you go around oppressing others with your bodyguard?I shouldn't be expecting much from a man like you”, Amelia uttered sternly.
“Look here woman. " You should be happy that I'm in a positive mood today and that is the reason why I'm sparing you, but you won't be fortunate next time we meet”, Ethan firmly warned.
“Guys, let's leave now”, then Ethan turned to the man. “As for you, I know where to get you, return the $5 million you stole from me or else you and your wife will not be able to face my wrath”, Ethan warned firmly.
“Wife! Stole! " Did you actually steal $5 million from him?” Amelia turned and asked the man.
The man nodded his head to show his consent.
Amelia was disappointed that she actually defended a thief who stole 5 million dollars from the man, and now she's even tagged as his wife and an accomplice to the crime.
She felt terrible and regretted her decision to help this young man.
Ethan and his men had left the scene already and there was no way she could clarify her name.
The crowd that were watching the whole scene as it occurred continued to look at Amelia as she felt really embarrassed. Then she quickly picked up the things she had gotten from the grocery store and immediately took her leave.
On getting home, she found that Helen wasn't back home and only Ray was left.
“Mommy, what do you get from me from the store?” Ray asked tenderly.
Amelia opened up the items she got from the store, then handed Ray the biscuits she had promised him.
“Hey, I got this for you” Amelia said, and handed over the biscuits to Ray.
“Thank you mom”, Ray said excitedly, then he went back to play with his toys. Amelia headed to the kitchen to prepare something for them before Helen returned.
A few minutes later, Helen returned with excitement on her face.
Amelia had been in search of work around, but she hadn't gotten anyone, so there was this opening in their company and Helen believed that Amelia would be able to get this job.
“Helen, how was your day and why are you this excited?” Amelia asked after she ran out of the kitchen on hearing Helen's excited scream.
