Her New Job

“I have good news for you, Amelia” Helen uttered excitedly.
“What is the good news all about? " I'm willing to hear it,” Amelia replied curiously.
“There is an opening in our company and I think you should apply for it”, Helen said.
Amelia looked at her with concern. She knew Helen worked for a prestigious company, and she feared that she might not really be qualified to work there.
“You don't have to worry about anything. " I trust you have the ability to get this job and if you need any help, I'll be right there to assist you, so cheer up and get your CV ready, because tomorrow morning you are going to apply for this job”, Helen said reassuringly.
“If you say so, then I won't doubt you. " I'll go in now and get my documents ready so that I will follow you tomorrow morning to apply for this job”, Amelia said.
The next day, Helen and Amelia walked into the Prescott company.
Amelia walked behind Helen and suddenly lost track of her. Then, while she was still trying to track down Helen, she saw a familiar figure approaching her. It was Ethan Prescott, the CEO of the Prescott Empire.
Ethan tried to avoid her, but he couldn't help. Then he approached her to find out from her what she was doing in his company for fear that she might be a spy trying to track him down.
“And what are you doing here?” Ethan asked seriously, his tone harsh.
“I don't understand you. Do you think, because you are rich, that suggests you could monitor the movement of others, and why would you care to know if I should ask you? " Are you the owner of this place?” Amelia asked.
The response clearly showed that Amelia had no information about him, so he decided to discard that idea from his head and left Amelia hanging while he headed to his office.
This was when she finally got to see Helen, who she had been separated from.
“This place is really huge. I thought I wouldn't find you”, Amelia said upon seeing Helen by her side.
“Let's try to stay together, since this is your first time, it might be hard for you to find your way around, so I'll guide you for today”, Helen said, then took her to the HR department where she was meant to be interviewed for her job.
“Amelia, at this point you have to go in alone. You got this. Try to be natural and be confident in yourself.I believe you'll be able to handle this and get the job. " Remember you need a job for Ray, so go and give it your best”, Helen encouraged Amelia as she walked into the office.
She met an advance man and woman seated in two executive seats. It was obvious that they were the ones in charge of the interview, so she greeted them respectfully and handed over her CV.
They gestured towards her to take her seat while she waited for both of them to check her CV and see her qualifications.
She was expecting them to ask series of questions and maybe difficult questions as well, but to her surprise, they only asked just one simple question.
“Why do you want the job?” the older man asked curiously.
“This won't be my first time working in that role. In the previous company where I worked, I was able to do all my jobs diligently, and I assure you that it won't be different working in this company. I will contribute to the productivity of the company, and I'm sure that my impact will be felt as soon as possible. Finally, I have a 5-year-old boy who I'm determined to give a better life, so I could do anything just to make sure that I get this job so that I can keep on caring for my son”, Amelia replied with confidence.
Her response was pleasing to the personnel in charge of the interview. Not only did her CV reveal her qualifications, she was also very outspoken, and she looks like someone who is ready to contribute to the success of the company. This was the reason for their next words.
“Congratulation Amelia. You got the job”, the older man said.
Amelia was first excited and she thanked them.
“Starting tomorrow you will resume working as the personal assistant for the CEO”, the older woman said.
Amelia was excited that the job came so easily as she expected.
“Thank you so much.I won’t disappoint you,” Amelia said excitedly.
“You have to inform the CEO about your appointment. You have to see him, then if he approves you, you can finally start working”,the older man said.
Amelia will only be qualified to start work, but now it's in the hands of the CEO to either accept Amelia or reject her.
Amelia was surprised by this sudden twist, but she was determined to create a good impression on the CEO.
“You don't have to worry about anything, just about the way you have acted now and inform him that we have approved your CV, and we have offered you a job to assist him. I'm sure there won't be a problem", the older woman said, then she gave directions to Amelia to the CEO's office.
Amelia left the office and went towards the direction she was given, which should lead to the CEO’s office.
“Don't worry. You'll be fine. Just keep your head down and do your job”, Amelia smiled, determined to make the best of the situation.
When she stepped into the office suite, she immediately felt the weight of a powerful figure's presence. He was sitting behind his massive desk, his sharp gray eyes scanning through
a document.
“You are the new hire?” he asked, still focused on the document he was going through.
“Yes,” Amelia said, keeping her voice steady.
The voice sounded very familiar, Ethan d
id not hesitate to raise his head up to look at the person who had just walked in.
They were both surprised as their eyes met each other's gaze.
