Matilda’s POV. I woke up early to prepare breakfast for Marco and me. All my doubts and anger had disappeared because of what happened between us last night, a moment of intimacy that gave me hope. We had rented an apartment where no one knew me. It was far from the city, and most people here did not have phones or televisions, so it was unlikely that anyone would recognize me. “Hm… breakfast is ready,” I said.
