I slowly turned my head when I heard Lyka call my name. We were on the mansion’s terrace, the morning quiet except for the soft rustle of the wind and the faint clink of our coffee cups. But despite the calm surroundings, my thoughts were anything but peaceful.
The moment she found out what had happened to me, she came to see me right away as if she couldn’t bear to leave me alone like this.
“Why?” I asked, trying to brush off the heaviness in my chest.
She stared at me for a long moment, as if carefully studying every little movement I made. “Are you okay?”
I nodded, even though I knew it wasn’t true. “Yeah… why?”
She didn’t answer immediately. Instead, she continued observing me, concern clearly written all over her face.
