Two weeks had passed since Marilda kidnapped me. As the days went by, the nightmares that used to wake me in the middle of the night slowly began to fade. The fear never truly disappeared, but I had learned how to face it. Lyka, Xeldon, and most of all, Viel, they were the ones who never let go of me as I slowly found my way back. And now… I’m ready to start again. “Ma’am Xheree?” I turned when I heard Manang’s voice. She looked completely shocked to see me in the kitchen, busy cooking. “Good morning, Manang,” I greeted with a smile. She quickly approached me, worry evident on her face. “Ma’am Xheree, I’m sorry I didn’t wake up early. I slept too deeply. I’ll take over the cooking.” She was about to take the ladle from my hand, but I gently pulled it away. “Ma’am Xheree…” she said
