It was Saturday, and Viel came home early to the mansion. We were all at the dining table, eating lunch together, but I barely touched my food. My mind was somewhere else on the party tonight. I had nothing new to wear. I couldn’t afford to buy clothes, and the only person who could help me was Lyka. But I didn’t know how to tell Viel that I needed to go to her house today. “Xheree, don’t forget the birthday party later,” Viel said calmly. I nodded without meeting his eyes. “Okay.” I couldn’t refuse him.
